Good instrumentally but lacks a clear vision behind most of the album. Every song has its own them or concept that to me makes it feel more like a greatest hits montage than an album.
There are some great songs like suicide note pt 1, 10s and floods but aside from that, it's very clear that the band was going through a rough period. The kind of southern country twang does not fit with phil's vocal performance at all, mixed with a few weirdly mysogonystic lyrics and A LOT of racist undertones makes this album hard to love.
The first half of this album can be a tough listen but the second half is this beautiful neo soul fused with hip hop and synth pop. If your a fan of Igor by Tyler the creator you will probably like this album aswell.
The magnum opus of the greatest rock star of all time. A fabulous mix of soul, blues and psych rock. Electric ladyland is a place of love, passion and psychedelia, where the only one who can judge you is the night sky of above.
