Why did I pick this album out of all Power Electronics options to get a bit further into the genre, that was uh, definitely not a pleasant listen. Before you even begin listening to this album, looking at the cover is enough to tell you that this is absurd and wild on its own. You're telling me this album was supposed to be played with a different one after I finished the album?? 😭😭
Either way, I wasn't left with a good impression from what Atmosphreic Sludge Metal was after listening to A Sun That Never Sets, but decided to give it another shot, choosing this album and after listening to the raw version, I think I underestimated the genre a bit. And here I thought I wasn't gonna like this for some reason, damn was I wrong. I might even say this is probably one of the heaviest, most brutal albums I've ever heard to come out of this genre. To some this sounds like your typical, generic bdm everyone's heard, but have you heard the breakdowns of this thing? Absolutely nasty shit going on here.

And Converge is back with their new album, 5 years after the release of the collaborative album with Chelsea Wolfe. Converge proves yet again that they still have it in them with this, I was excited to give it a listen immediately after hearing the first single out of it, got hooked in right away, definitely will be a contender for AOTY.
