(this review took three fucking days, oh Lucifer)
Every note has a meaning, but you might just be small enough not to notice...
Thy Catafalque, in my humble and definitely not biased opinion, isn't simply a project. It's a view of life that conveys emotion and meaning in everything it encounters. It lifts the ordinary into a higher plane to portray newfound beauty in even a single breeze. Kátai Tamás's works always leave me wanting more, not because ... read more
An overall pleasant listen that doesn't require much strain on your mind. Two elegant piano pieces that don't fulfill any particular role besides capturing a sort of tender, albeit melancholic state; which, by itself, not a bad idea, but Verborgenes inneres Leiden provides much too little to construct meaning. The title track has some depth since it actually has lyrics, but that doesn't let your mind wander and ponder too much. Secunda, on the other hand, is definitely better ... read more
Why do I keep doing this
PRESIDENT is somehow winning people over... with this? Sure, when I heard Mercy, I at least had some idea about why people enjoyed it, even if I believe it was nothing but schlock, but what's it now? DOOM LOOP (even the title of the song is horrendous) takes the band's pretentious, annoying, and fairly overdone formula to an extent last seen on RAGE, but at least there's SOMETHING to pay attention to this time around; it's not much. Even if you compare it to the heavily pop-hook-driven and bright 'Under Your Spell', this record produces possibly the least amount of crushing riffs out of any of their albums. TBM is very hit-or-miss with opening tracks, and Enter ... read more
I'm not the type to put reviews on singles, but this deserves it. This is fucking DELICIOUS. I'm a big fan of MiW and always found their eagerness to mix and match many influences at the same time. Hearing them go this far into "true" melocore is incredibly exciting.
Release a new album NOW
a punchy metal release, but not much else. It has quite the energy, the music itself is great, but there's not much to say otherwise. The clean singing on 'Divide' could've been better or better written
Edit: this has grown off of me considerably lmao. It sounds so generic, but competent. It is infuriating, honestly. Many bands in this modern metal scene—that I like to call Alt-core—are made up of actually good musicians, but for Lucifer's sake, they cannot ... read more
