Another nice outing by the Spitta himself. Super slippery as always with nice work done by Fu$e as well who brings a more dark and dangerous vibe as opposed to Curren$y's previous collab this year with i think Cardo? (The Green Tape).
You gotta love his output at this point of his career. Only complaint with this one is his constant mumbling in the background of verses and hooks could be done without.
Is this the best rap release this week? That question is suggesting more of a slow release week rather than this being anything particularly great.
In saying that is definitely is some good rapping over solid instrumentals.
Speaking on the instrumentals, do a lot of these beats sound awfully familiar? I swear I have heard a lot of these beats before (with some slight work) but cant put my finger on exactly where from.
Overall, this is pretty decent.
Had only really heard 777 from Key! so I was hoping to get a couple of hard hitting bangers on here in similar vein.
Not really the case but definitely are a couple of good tracks.
My biggest complaint would be in Keys delivery. It seems a little bit uninspired & some of his flows on here are pretty bad at times.
I think this benefits from the short run time and the definitely not the worst thing I have ever heard - in fact - the production is quite good.
This could have went a couple of ways. We would either hear a quick cash grab, capitalising on the success of 'Rascal' or a breath of fresh air with a genuinely interesting project from a new talent.
I think it's the former.
Although, theres nothing really that bad on here - just not great
Just not really loving this.
I share similar issues with Sheff G's release this year. Great John - the producer these guys have seemingly decided to go with for a newer more melodic NY trap - just doesn't hit for me.
I swear the drum kits in these tracks are just so empty and simple. Way too empty for someone like Sleepy Hallow, who has not nearly enough deliveries to make this an interesting listen.
Even the guitar picks/chords just sound like garageband beats I could put ... read more
When you get a minute, take a look at the vinyl for this record. Theres a couple of different ones but the main one is like a bloody sheet and just looks super cool.
Another cool thing about this is actually the production from Superior. Just all across this thing it's super dark and grimy and gives the perfect platform for Estee Nack to showcase his underground rhyming ability. A Sonny Liston & Al Haymon Reference in the same song? (BALLADSFORTHEBRILLIANT) I'm sold!

Usually I will write my review in my phone notes with my score before I look at the reviews on here to make sure my scoring/thoughts are not being influenced by others. Unfortunately I was quite drunk last night so I though "F*ck it, lets just see if people think this is good or not"
So, I seen all the negative feedback people had about this which made me have little expectations coming in to it.
That may have actually been a blessing in disguise, because i kinda... like it?

I don't think the content quite lives up to the quality of the cover art
The slow flow spoken word poetry style rap has never really been my go to. In saying that 'Hiding Places' was one of my favourite projects last year, but I think that is mostly due to the production from Kenny Segal.
I find people like Billy Woods intriguing due to the abstractness in their pen game. I find that the more I listen to it the more I like it as I dissect a little bit more at a time.
'King Tubby' is ... read more
Another great outing by these 2 lads.
Personally I still place RTJ2 over this but only closely as I find this to be more consistent.
Sticking with the same tried and true album structure as previous releases - all killer no filler, the duo really give us no time to recover in between each BANGING track. So much so that I had to take a deep breath after the project was over to recoup.
Whilst we are talking about the end of the album we must talk about this outro track. This has GOT to be ... read more
I was hoping my 100th review would be a bit more exciting of an album, but anyway I digress.
Ace Hood has got to have some of the worst Album artwork in history. You would never be able to tell what kind of album you are going into looking at this stuff.
Anyway, enough about that.
Ace Hood can actually rap. He can. Is he a top tier rapper? Absolutely not. In fact, i'm pretty sure I watched a youtube video a year or so ago with him saying that music is not even the priority at this ... read more
'I'm really hooked on that codeine, one more cup and I swear i'm out'. .....Yes we can hear that
Look, It's not as bad as some people are making it out to be.
I think for the most part it's the production that keeps it more interesting than it should be and with Lucki's (deliberately) bored delivery, it definitely needs some quality production.
I do think there is a dip in quality in his flow coming into the back end of the album but the back end also has some of the projects better ... read more
Yeahhhhhhhhh.. Nah.
This must be the lowest form of rapping. Surely? Right?
"This rap shit sweet as a Cinnabon" .. Like this just isn't fun anymore. Is this really a metaphor these days?
Yes, I know im complaining about the part of the music which nobody, including Yachty, cares about (The actual rapping), But like some substance would be nice. If you're the happy vibes guy can't you at least tell us about how happy you are and why you are happy?
Anyway, let's leave this on a ... read more
I have never heard anyone only have 1 single flow up their sleeve until now.
I was hype after the first track because the production was banging thanks to Kenny Beats, there was sick wordplay and he brought a particular charisma to the track.
Then, the second track came. Production banging again (Thanks Kenny Beats again) but I wasn't as interested this time. He uses the exact same flow again! If you are going to use the same flow, rule of thumb is to not use it directly on the next ... read more
Am I just in a good mood today or is this actually pretty good?
I kinda wish he made this a complete seperate album because I would argue this is actually better than the original.
It still has big name trap producers like Zaytoven and big name features like Uzi & Durk. I'm sure this can't just be B sides or throwaways.
Compared to the original, it feels like Herbo is just having fun which actually results in more captivating and freely spitten flows.
The production is pretty nice ... read more
Lil Wayne is still perfectly capable of creating a good song. He proved this on 'Harden' earlier in the year. So with this understanding, I was really hoping I would be able to take at least 1 track with me from these 8 new released tracks.
Fortunately in this case, I can. What an amazing flow Benny brings on Russian Roulette! That track would have been top 3 on the original album.
As for the other 7 tracks - they pretty much range from bad to average. Probably just throwaways from ... read more
Yeah I think I would prefer this ever so slightly over 'Twenty Nine'. I like that this one does a good job at creating a mood which is pretty well represented on the album cover through the bird symbolism.
Sticking with the no features approach, Kaan brings in multiple different deliveries and different pitches in his voice to keep it interesting enough through 30 minutes. Well, actually about 23 minutes because this project does fall off after 'Lotto'.
It's still a perfectly decent ... read more
This is the epitome of what a true rap record should be.
I suppose this is what is to be expected when you pair a S tier rapper with a S tier producer. But then again, that expectation can dangerously walk a tightrope of unrealistic expectations and disappointment. Fortunately, that is not an issue with this record.
I think Alchemist takes a bit of a backseat here (intentionally) to really let Freddie shine. Thats not to say the production is not up to par, because it absolutely is. I ... read more
"I rap circles around em like a basketball for christmas"
If H.A.R.D stands for Hardly Anything Really Different then they did a great job.
I suppose it's perfectly non offensive, it has that going for itself. But then again is that even a compliment these days?
Look it's really just decent rapping over average production. Really nothing quote on quote "Hard" about it.

Wow what an experience!
I read somewhere that Preservation made this during his 3 years living in Hong Kong & you can definitely tell. If any project has transported me somewhere this year it's this one.
This makes me feel like i'm walking into a Zen like temple in Hong Kong with a small Zen Master making music on the throne (Preservation). The Temple has all the Featured rappers statues/shrines which you slowly walk up to and as you approach they start spitting their perfectly written ... read more
'It's always easy to be the villain, the heroes don't live long'
This reminds me of the Boom Bap version of Metro Boomin, 21 & offsets 'Without Warning'.
All of the production is so dark it really speaks true to the Album artwork. Even on a vibrant track like 'Howard Crewneck' it can only hold up for 2 minutes (likewise with the outro track) before his voice starts to fade out entirely and the beat switches to something sinister with the line "... doing a robbery, your brother ... read more
