It's been one of my favourite Taylor Swift albums for a long time, and comparing it to the rest of her discography recently I still believe it's one of her best ones. It has absolutely everything, and it accomplishes everything so well at the same time.
This might be one of the albums that have grown the most for me overtime. I remember initially, my reaction to it was quite mild because I wasn't expecting the complete 180 from Melodrama, and I do think this album is a little less complete compared to anything she's done, and I think it would benefit from just more going on in the tracks, and I can say this with complete honesty since I actually went to see Lorde live during her Solar Power tour and the tour versions of all the tracks on this ... read more
Feel like this is so close to one of Taylor's best pop albums, but it's held back by a few missteps that make me lose interest. Upon relisten though, there are so many things to like about the songs that properly do hit.
While I do think the style she went with on Think Later suits her more, I think theres just a lot more depth on this album and a lot more for me to enjoy, and its why I prefer it much more over its successor in terms of songs.
I'm a very big defender of this album, and really wish her future albums lived up to how much I enjoyed and respect this one
The only parts of this album I can really class as a negative is like; did Havana really need a feature? Also why is the Radio Edit of Never Be The Same a song lmao
The more I listen to this album, the more disappointed I get due to the lack of like... opportunity used I suppose
I really did love her first album, and I feel like the direction she went with in that one really benefited her voice and style and while evolving from that isn't *that* bad of a thing to do, there just wasn't much on here that left a significant impression on me.
Highlights for me include Stay Done and Grave, along with Greedy of course but not much else was really notable or ... read more
One of the best debut albums of all time I'm fairly sure, there's just so much to like about many parts of this and although I think I prefer GUTS slightly more in the long run, there's so many songs here that I'll always come back to. Going back to this album with the perspective of her next album being as successful as it was too is very interesting as well since a lot of the critique about Olivia was that she wasn't going to be able to follow up her success, and that just says a lot about ... read more
Demi please don't end this Rock era I beg of you, it suits you so well, we need you here
God this was just so much fun to sit through, and I will never stop being impressed by her vocals.
Late listener to this, but I remember recently looking over all of Lana's albums and decided to relisten to NFR, and it kind of shocked me the amount of iconic songs that are on this album. There are just so many amazing moments in here, and it kind of answered my question that this is one of, if not her best work.
(Pre Update Score: 75) There's a lot of parts of this album that I really like that I consider among Lana's best work, but god the interludes just take me in and out and clog up so much space on one of the more interesting parts of the album for me. Additionally, some of the tracks in the second half of the album just didn't do it for me as much however it has an amazing closing track that left a great impression on me.

Pretty much everything I said in my first review stands ... read more
First Sabrina project I managed to listen to, and it has one of the best four song openings to any album I've ever listened to, and it never really dips substantially. I do have to commend the fwd deluxe edition too for adding 3 more songs I really do love on top of the majority of this album to begin with, and seeing Sabrina get more popular after this albums release is a delight to see, and I'm really excited to see what her next album looks and sounds like.
I remember being so hyped for this album, expecting a monster debut that just becomes a complete classic for me, purely based on the impression that the two singles leading up to it left on me (Snow Angel + Talk Too Much), but unfortunately it kind of fell a bit flat mainly because of how much I was expecting from it. Don't get me wrong, I still do enjoy it a lot but there are a few too many missteps for me to consider it any better than an 80. There's a lot to really love here though, Renee's ... read more
I remember (unfairly) thinking that this album didn't have much to offer outside of Born This Way and Edge of Glory without giving it too much of a chance, but there is so much to enjoy within this, and honestly the thing I have to thank most for me finally giving this a listen was Bloody Mary going viral a year or so back (a song I really do love)
Honestly makes me wanna try and give the rest of her discography a better listen, I'm a real big fan now
I have quite the history with loving this album. It was the first artist specific album I bought with my own money (before I learned what Spotify was) and I remember having my mind completely blown by every aspect of it, and saying my entire 2017 revolved around it is an understatement. It is the closest thing I think I can consider a masterpiece, and it's probably one of my favourite bodies of work I'll ever get to listen to.
I've never really gravitated towards Rina's work until this album, and there are so many instances inside of it that just establish its status as one of the greatest pop albums I've listened to in my life. The title track especially just invokes such an incredible response from me, and is one of my favourite songs of all time, and there are many other highlights in this album too, such as Phantom, Frankenstein and Holy (Til You Let Me Go)
I can't recommend this enough to be honest
It's taken a bit, but I finally appreciate this album for what it is, and I think it's firmly my second (or maybe even first) favourite Lana Del Rey album. I think nearly every song on this grew on me a substantial amount since the first time I listened to them, and so much of it is just so soothing and also inexplicably haunting too? Like the overall vibe of this album is just so hard to describe, but it's really good.
If I had to point out a negative point, a lot of the songs do get dragged ... read more
I managed to listen to this way too late, and after the very negative/mixed reception it received on release + since it came out, I guess my expectations were low for it which allowed me to get a little bit surprised by some of the songs on it. I had already loved Chained to the Rhythm but also had an appreciation with Witness and some of the more emotional and meaningful songs on this. However there is a *lot* to sit through for only a little payoff so I guess it's up to you whether you think ... read more
I think in terms of overall quality as well as vault tracks, 1989 (Taylor's Version) is far and away her best rerecording and solidifies 1989's status as one of Taylor Swifts outright best albums
Inexplicably, Olivia does what I thought was impossible and exceeded her debut album SOUR for me. The differences between her two albums are almost impossible for me to describe, because even the summary that GUTS is more upbeat than it and that being the main distinction isn't completely true since I feel like the more subdued and slower songs pack a different punch. In the end, I feel like this album is where she really honed in on and mastered her songwriting, with barely any missteps in the ... read more
While not being my favourite TS album and while I do think the 3am edition (and by extension the Til Dawn version) adds a lot of depth to this album, I feel like Midnights on its own stands strong enough too.
There was a lot of mystery surrounding the sound she was going to go for after her dialed back releases with Folklore and Evermore, but I think it was a safe bet that she'd return to pop when the time came.
If I was including the 3am tracks, Hits Different as well as You're Losing Me etc ... read more
