Swans - Filth

Gonna rewrite this review soon cuz this grew like a motherfucker

Filth is really a perfect title for this thing, because it's the most grimy, sludgy album I've ever heard. It's packed with No Wave's classic shrieking guitar tones and near gunshot percussion. The vocal growling fits the thrashing sound of the instrumentals very well, even if it's a little difficult to take seriously at times. I wish the sound reached some denser points, because it often feels slightly ... read more

Television - Marquee Moon

98>100
Holy shit, this album is INCREDIBLE! There's so many creative melodies and excellent chord progressions, the guitar work is perfectly executed and incorporates some extremely innovative ideas, things that are rarely even used today. The solos are consistently brilliant and the double tracking guitars, basslines and drums come together to create one of the richest and most intricate soundscapes of any rock project I've heard. Tom Verlaine's vocals feel like they're going to fall apart ... read more

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon

Alright chumps, buckle up for my longest review yet.

I feel like this is the most generic opinion ever, but Dark Side of the Moon really is a perfect album. The melodies, chord progressions, guitar work, lyricism and progression throughout the project are innovate and captivating. Not only does every track interconnect in a masterful fashion with the transitions, there are subtle (or blatant) melodic links between songs, with several reprises of Breathe being used to give the album thematic ... read more

Quadeca - I Didn't Mean to Haunt You
90

I've been aware of Quadeca for a while now, through hivemind and his TND reviews, but didn't have any interest in checking out his music since it wasn't particularly well regarded. But yesterday I opened AOTY to find this album with a 95 user rating from over 100 ratings. That rarely ever happens, and it definitely never happens with Youtube rappers. I gave the first released single, Born Yesterday, a listen.

I may or may not have cried.

I promptly gave the full project a listen, and was not ... read more

"@officvictorlee it is literally a fact that he was killed idiot, and you don't believe human lives are inherently important? you don't realise that environmental and societal factors out of his control (institutionalised racism) would have led to "the drugs being the problem" as conservatives claim? you don't realise george floyd was the catalyst for awareness around an issue that has been happening for centuries without it being apparent to you because you are too privileged (white) for it to affect you? please look at the bigger picture come on.."
