Rolling Stone have said for the last decade or so that Pet Sounds is the second best album ever made... All I can ask is by what metric?
Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys is one of, if not the most overrated album to ever be released. How this LP even now still gets praised like it's the second coming of Jesus, I will never know. Weird picks for singles so far but I enjoyed this one quite a bit more than ‘Rock Music’.
This one doesn’t feel like an interlude or opener - so we are making progress.
It feels like this album’s thesis statement was to ‘make a JPEGMAFIA album’, as if just making the album was the goal.
What I’m trying to say is Peggy seems out of ideas. While he has produced some of the most forward-thinking and left-field music of the last 10 years - it seems that this particular well of ideas has run dry for him. He just has nothing to say.

One of the albums that shaped my taste in music. Flawless track-list front to back. Can’t praise this album enough yet I find it hard to word why it is exactly this album resonates so much with me… it just kind of does.
Julian Casablancas couldn’t have debuted his style of singing and performance any better than how he did on this album. By mixing a bit of Lou Reed and Jim Morrison - he cracked the brain-tickling code.
