DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ - Charmed

absolutely mind boggling that someone could ever make a THREE HOUR LONG album and somehow be this insanely consistent the whole runtime

the sounds on this album are so otherworldly and magical, from the samples, the synths, the instruments, all of these elements happening all at once creates one of the most insane yet beautiful soundscapes i have ever heard on any album

the first track on this especially is unbelievabe. from the vocal samples in the background, the saxophone, the piano, so ... read more

such a unique and beautiful project, i love how sudden it switches from beautiful chamber pop one second, to loud screamo the next

i think there is no better example than pinhole blanket sun, love how the vocals contrast themselves so much

overall this is a really awesome and unique ep i will definitely be revisiting

Earson - Mane I Can't

Earson said the government would not allow a single company that has not made the decision on its own terms for a merger to replace it in a market where the company has been struggling for more time than the. Mane i Cant

how something can be this good and get this little attention is beyond me. to me pop punk has always been a very hit or miss genre, but wow this album is so consistently amazing

the writing is amazing, the vocals are loud and energetic, the instrumentals are great, i dont really know what else to say other than i loved this on first listen and i still love it now

Lyves - Like Water
85

very underrated ep, the production on this is so beautiful and unique, the vocals are really smooth aswell.

only song on here close to a miss for me is free, but the other 3 are amazing, no love especially

this album had such a cool and ambitious concept, but unfortunately it didnt really deliver on the execution

not only do i feel like they just did not do enough with this concept other than a few tracks near the end, but these songs in general, while not bad, just do not bring anything interesting to the table

aside from that, there were still a handful of songs on here i enjoyed, the happy dictator was a very fun sounding track, yet still very well written, and the verses on the manifesto ... read more

pretty consistently good, but other than a few tracks here and there i dont really see myself revisiting this much

Mitski - Nothing's About to Happen to Me
80

honestly might be my favorite production on any mitski album other than makeout creek

writing is amazing as usual, instrumentation is incredible aswell

only small issue i had with this album is the song lengths. at times it felt like these songs were trying to fit so much in such short tracks, i feel like extending some of the song lengths wouldve definitely made the album more captivating as a whole

other than thats its about what you would expect out of a mitski album, which is definitely ... read more

i mean yeah it doesnt exactly reinvent the wheel or anything, but does that really matter when the music is THIS consistently great ?

i was kinda burnt out of this style of shoegaze mostly cause it all sounded very repetitive and low effort to me, but this album completely changed my mindset

definitely one of the best shoegaze albums i have ever listened to

The Jimi Hendrix Experience - Electric Ladyland
90

theres no way this guy was human wtfffff

some of the best and most mindblowing guitar work ive ever heard, at times i was genuinely just wondering how the hell this was even possible

everything else was obviously great aswell but it just pales in comparison to the guitar for me

Baby Keem - Ca$ino

nearly 5 years for this???

somehow even more of a mixed bag than the melodic blue, even then the highs are just not interesting enough to make me care

the mixing on this wasnt good, the production was bland, and the flows were by far my least favorite part, they all just sounded very awkward and corny, and oh my god the singing on songs like good flirts and dramatic girl was AWFUL

both of the kendrick features were also very dissapointing, he delivers an okay verse on good flirts, though its ... read more

hemlocke springs - the apple tree under the sea

i honestly thought i was going to dislike this alot more, but it is a pretty fun listen

my biggest issue with this album was by far the vocals, alot of the vocals on these songs were just very obnoxious to me, especially on the third song, which might be one of the most annoying things ive ever listened to

the production, while not anything mind blowing, was pretty fun and probably my favorite part of this album

Charli xcx - Wuthering Heights
75

sky ferreira song in this day and age i must be hallucinating

loved how much more she focused on the vocals here, cause i feel like that’s something that charli is great at, yet i dont see her do a whole lot

at times this album felt a little unfinished and like it was missing something, though im not really sure what that really was

eyes of the world was by far my favorite track, not only is the feature great, but everything about this song is amazing, from the vocals, the beautiful ... read more

this album is all over the place in the best way possible

theres so many super fun tracks like bizcochito and chicken teriyaki, aswell as alot of very melodic and beautiful tracks, which is great because rosalia is an incredible vocalist

though there were a few songs i wasnt crazy about, for the most part i loved the hell out of this album

Animal Collective - Merriweather Post Pavilion
75

really loved the first couple tracks, but the second half was just really boring and felt like dumbed down versions of the tracks before it

that being said the first half is REALLY good. the drop on in the flowers was incredible, and the production on my girls and bluish was so beautiful and mesmerizing. really wish the quality of the first half remained through the rest of the album

Tuna Rimbaud - Tuna Rimbaud V (The Prophet of Music)

i didnt finish this whole thing for obvious reasons but wow this is literally just a guy moaning and groaning over classical instrumentals im crying

Spiritualized - Ladies and gentlemen we are floating in space
95

this honestly left me kinda speechless

the first half of this album is genuinely like some of the best music ive heard maybe ever. the title track is so beautiful and so atmospheric it perfectly encapsulates the albums theme. Come together was by far my favorite, theres so much happening on that song, from the backup vocals, the trumpets, the guitar, yet with so much chaos it just works perfectly.

though i do think the album takes a bit of a dip later on, these are not bad songs by any ... read more
