JPEGMAFIA - EXPERIMENTAL RAP
91

Another victory lap for peggers

Imperial Triumphant - Spirit of Ecstasy
65

This had the potential to be one of the highest rated Imperial Triumphant albums for me, if the production wasn’t so bad. Everything just sounds tone-deaf and muddy. Don’t get me wrong, some of my favorite Imperial Triumphant tracks are on here, Metrovertigo, Chump Change to name a couple, but you can’t really serve a 5-star meal on a paper plate with plastic silverware, like it’s just not fitting

Armand Hammer - We Buy Diabetic Test Strips
100

Probably the most effective and hard-hitting piece of music that implements themes of poverty, oppression and financial slavery into their sound ever; point, blank, period. The experimentation with eerie beats, abstract song structures, vocal samples and uncomfortable silence is just beautifully wrapped together. The depressive tone and giant middle finger towards the American economy and corporate elites was definitely felt and seen from me. And on top of that, Billy and Elucid always deliver ... read more

Genesis Owusu - REDSTAR WU & THE WORLDWIDE SCOURGE
83

The energy and vibes this album delivers in the first half is really fun and carries a lot of emotional weight along with it. The Worldwide Scourge is one of my favorite songs of the year. Unfortunately, the album takes a little bit of a creative nosedive towards the end of the album and that’s understandable because of how insane the first half sounded to me. I enjoyed it though

Larry June & The Alchemist - The Great Escape
45

I see Larry’s vision in his delivery, flow, album concept, rhyme schemes etc., it’s just not effective and it’s boring. By the time Alchemist got to Larry June, Al had already worked with 10 different Larry Junes. Something’s gotta change for Larry, something that’s gonna make me excited to hear that he’s dropping something new.

Drake - MAID OF HONOUR
5

This music is intended for brain dead, hypebeast nincompoops. Not worth the 20% battery life on my phone. I won’t be going to the club for a while, I do not consent to hearing Cheetah Print again

Drake dropped a holy moley bar in the big 26 I’m crine 😭😭😭

SOPHIE - OIL OF EVERY PEARL'S UN-INSIDES
90

Rip Sophie, really gave a whole new meaning to “acquired taste” in music. I’m a huge Death Grips fan, and this album made me wince and cringe a lot, but it’s awesome. Despite being really left-field, and the listening experience kind of dips-off with the amount of interludes and spacious noise, I can’t help but appreciate it and other than those kinks in the album it’s a pretty consistent, ambient experience.

With Sophie, Backxwash and Underscores, trans ... read more

Benny the Butcher - Tana Talk 4

Pyrex Man 4: A New Dope 🔥

clipping. - Visions of Bodies Being Burned
82

Really good noise album, very textured very pleasurable listen. I just wish they explored the hip-hop parts of the album more.

Behemoth - Demigod
85

To non-hardcore Behemoth fans, this would most likely be out of their radar; mainly because The Satanist I believe is the greatest thing they’ve ever put out and it should be everyone first “go-to” when looking at their catalogue. Even though Demigod isn’t a surface level, or celebrated, Behemoth record I believe it should be cause this album kicks asssss

A big bulk of this album; such as tracks like Conquer All, Towards Babylon, Slaves Shall Serve, and The Nephilim ... read more

Meshuggah - I
NR

The greatest EP I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Feels like I’m fighting a Shadow Of The Colossus boss. I’ve been listening to this EP for years now and it’s always been a daily listen for me

Converge - Love Is Not Enough
89

These guys will never not sound good. Can’t wait for AOTY to drop soon

Lorde - Melodrama
71

Lorde’s Melodrama is a result of her branching out into a more experimental, and creative approach to her artistry. Melodrama sounds more experimental and boundary pushing as opposed to her earlier works, especially when compared to Pure Heroine. As a result of this, Lorde was able to invoke a stronger emotional reaction and deeper interest from me when compared to my listening experience with Pure Heroine. A good chunk of songs on here are interesting conceptually and deserve my respect ... read more

Janelle Monáe - The ArchAndroid
87

This album is so sick man. It’s just a constant Super Bowl halftime show from top to bottom. Janelle maintains a constant swagger throughout the whole project.

Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
100

The white man’s TPAB

Converge - Jane Doe
95

Literally, metaphorically, musically, emotionally, up, down, left, right, sideways, diagonally. No matter how you slice it, this has got to be in the running for one of the greatest mathcore albums ever conceived, so close to perfection. And it most definitely deserves a spot in the top 100 metal albums of all time

It literally puts you through a brutal, technical masterclass for 28+ minutes and then ends on one of the best 10+ minute closers I’ve ever heard

Botch - We Are the Romans
88

Because I diversified my music taste so much in the past month or two, metal hasn’t really been hitting the same for some reason. Most of my most beloved albums are heavier genres of metal, but I haven’t been visiting them as much as I used to being a metal head and all. Glad that this album kind of prolonged my obsession with metal just a little bit.

The riffage is heeaavvyy, the vocals are primal, the technicality is absurd. I’d be a poser if I said I was deep into ... read more

Action Bronson - PLANET FROG
80

Don’t let anybody change who you are Doctor
As a fan of Baklava’s, I didn’t really think much of this album upon the first few listens. But the more I listen to it, I begin to realize it is a massive improvement when compared to his previous albums. Tighter bars, hilarious wordplay, the production and mixing is stellar. We need a tiny desk performance of this album

Fiona Apple - When the Pawn...
85

Fiona would later go on to make much more experimental projects, but this album is still bittersweet and really enjoyable, and it’s accompanied by very passionate vocals on top of that. My personal favorite off this thing is Fast As You Can

Ka - Honor Killed the Samurai

Rest in peace Ka. Left behind a discography of some of the wisest advice I’ve ever come across in music
