All of these pampered, tacky government PSYOP bitches coining the word “artist” all live in Lorde’s shadow
I think a pinkpantheress and Charli collab would fix whatever is wrong with me
Essential Sludge Metal. My only real issue with it is Strength of fates is a slug to get through. But this is amongst some of the best sludge you’ll ever find
Banger in their catalogue. I love how it’s more ambient and grim than the other albums in their catalogue. Neurosis is a staple band I listen to in the gym, but this album in particular stands out amongst the rest of them in the sense that I’m able to listen to it in its entirety from front to back and no have to worry about skipping anything. It’s a very consistent and seamless album, even though sometimes some riffs and instrumental passages can drag on for too long. It ... read more
Their most black metal influenced album to date. Not as extreme in terms of technicality like on Goldstar, but she gets the job done. I feel like I wouldn’t visit this album as much as the other albums in their discog. Alphaville’s strongest songs like Atomic Age, Excelsior and the title track are quality in their own right, but those songs blend in with a lot of what Imperial triumphant’s best albums have already done. Vile Luxury, Goldstar and Spirit of Ecstasy have ... read more
Imma start off by saying this was one of the most nightmarish albums I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing. I’m a huge fan of metal of all genres whether it’s death, tech death, grindcore, doom, drone, metalcore, etc. This album triumphs over 99% of the albums I have listened to in my tenure as a metal fan in terms of setting a dystopian and horrific ambience. Vile Luxury genuinely terrified me, and it was a privilege of experiencing how I had to push through this ... read more
It’s a lot of fun, it’s cute, it’s glitchy, but a lot of the songs don’t intrigue me and aren’t as conceptual as her previous, and future, works. I’d compare this album in her discography similar to what “Crash” is in Charli XCX’s discography. Something is just missing and it isn’t as dense, robust or compelling as her other works. Besides those few qualms, it wasn’t a waste of my time and I enjoyed some songs and the overall ... read more
Some of the sickest, sludgiest, most epic stoner metal I’ve heard in recent memory. I think I prefer this over Pink. I could listen to the introduction for hours and never get bored. They’re just making them guitars CRY
I listened to this album for the first time alone, in the dark, in my living room with nothing but my headphones and off an edible. I remember it like it was yesterday
I saw someone say that this is what Chuck Schuldiner would’ve made if he didn’t pass away so soon and I couldn’t agree more
This is the future of death metal
This album sounds like it was written by a stunning waitress working at a local bar, like you see in the movies, waiting for her time to shine and I love it. I definitely prefer this album over The Idler Wheel. The choruses are both strong and super catchy and the song subjects are intriguing. The mixing and mastering sounds suuupppeerr polished, especially when compared to The Idler Wheel (nothing negative about that album I think both of them are fantastic). While the consistency between ... read more
Magdalena Bay credited this album for influencing their sound in their music and I can totally see the resemblance. Stripped-back, simple and enigmatic instrumentation along with some beautiful singing. While I believe some songs are not "up to snuff" with the stronger tracks, it is still a really immersive, and quality, body of work. It's peaceful, experimental, and hard to not appreciate.
Hot Knife is such a banger
I’ve been listening to this album for like 8 years now, it was my gateway into enjoying more abstract hip hop. There will never be another Danny Brown
As someone who recognizes, and has acknowledged, Isaiah Rashad’s artistic ability and potential since his first album, he still has yet to showcase his talents to his fullest potential on his third album.
The album does truly sound like the album cover, a shimmer of bright-red, thermal turmoil swallowed in this pitch black void of exhaustion and longing. But if the runtime was cut a little shorter, some songs were left out entirely, you hired a true beatsmith, and substituted different ... read more
Packed full of dance, rap and punk bangers. The majority of the album upped the ante with the production (only a couple of songs aren’t mixed well imo). Plus it seems like they would struggle to write a song longer than 3 minutes. But nonetheless, it’s incredibly infectious, the boys just surf on some very well-crafted songs with a lot of incredibly catchy hooks. I loved it, had a really good time listening to it. Fuck peelers
El P and Killer Mike did what I strive to have in a friendship: come together with similar interests, make 4 banger albums together each progressively getting better than the last one, prosper 👉🤛
My personal favorite in their catalogue. On RTJ's 1 and 2, it sounded like the duo was just getting-settled with their newfound chemistry but were gradually honing their skills and making improvements. RTJ 3 is where El-P and Killer Mike outright buy my interest. The album feels like they did a DBZ fusion dance in order to tackle the corrupt standard and tyrannical system embedded in the country. I've been listening to Call Ticketron, Everybody Stay Calm, and A Report to the ... read more
