This is legitimately terrifying. The beat is bonkers and the flows and bars are incredible. Can’t believe I didn’t discover this sooner. It’s also a very vulnerable display as the lyrics dive deep into substance abuse. “Nosebleeds on red carpets, but it blends in”. Danny’s versatility is undeniable and this track is arguably one of his most wildest statements.

One of Josh’s best songs point blank peorid. While the majority of his catalog is inconsistent mush, I always thought this song stuck out in the best way possible. He’s always been hit or miss, and this was a huuuge hit. The bass is absolutely bonkers and the flows and screams are absolutely vial. The beat has some spaghetti western flair that I kinda fuck with. I just wish he would have done this more instead of rage bait garbage, but he’s perfectly capable of making a banger ... read more
Super impressed by Zelda’s versatility. Their production and song writing never disappoints, and this is another example. While I don’t love it as much as some of the stuff from their last album, I still think it’s a super bubbly and cute hyperpop banger.

Feels a little derivative at times but I think the instrumental and song writing has its moments. It’s alright, but I think she’s done this style better in previous attempts.

“Rolling down rodeo with a shotgun, these people ain’t seen a brown skin man since their grandparents bought one” might be one of the hardest damning bars I’ve ever heard.

One of the greatest rap rock fusions ever. The lyrics and flows are one thing, but the riff at the beginning is just *chefs Kiss*. Zack de la Rocha is such an underrated lyricist and songwriter. Not only was the band Fire, but the messaging and impact of this track is still relevant today. And like many others, I thank guitar hero for introducing this to me.

My relationship with Josh’s work dates back to when I was a naive high school listener who didn’t really understand other contemporary’s in the genre and instantly gravitated towards the most edgy thing I could. “Genocide” was the most prominent as it was a very jarring 10 minute track about how offensive he is. I use to dig it, but when I grew in taste and age, I started to realize just how bad his music actually was. He’s not really as offensive as he ... read more
JVB’s recent steak has been incredibly fun to watch. JPEGmafia has a great verse and the overall experience is high energy killer no filler. “I must be Gumby because all I see is green” is such a terrible line, but for some reason I fuk with it soooo hard.

Hmmm, there are some things that i definitely love about this track, but i feel like the autotune is a little much. Hopefully it smoothes out with some more listens, but the demo like quality is holding it back a bit for me.
(Edit) - Grew on me lol.

Been a while since I’ve touched on PUP.
The Toronto punk outfits last record certainly had ambition, but lacked what made their previous efforts so enjoyable. “Who will look after the dogs” feels like the band is starting to get back on track. However I do feel like there are plenty of derivative moments on this album that hold it back from its full potential. Some of the instrumentals and vocal processing feel oddly lazy and kind of lacking in bite. I do think the initial ... read more
I actual like the instrumental. Unfortunately everything else about this song immediately cancels it out.

Randomly thought I’d talk about this song. I just think this is one of the best indie rock songs of the modern era. Each individual section is packed with so much fineness and brilliant song writing and lyrics. It’s also wayyyyy better than the 2011 version. The production is amazing and brings out what was missing originally. Iconic

Model/Actriz returns with another hell of a release. “Pirouette” is one of the most relentless albums I’ve heard all year. The singles were great and the rest of this album is just as fire. “Cinderella” has some plucky feedback and rumbling bass that creates a nice contrast. I would say this album is even more dancier then there last album with some of the songs having more pop sensibility. “Poppy” is in the running as one of my favorite Model/Actriz ... read more
The blurry face era use to be a vibe for me… now it’s just a hodge podge of cringe. This is no different. Probably my least favorite song on the record and this demo version is further proof of it.

When Issac left the band, I had questions about the direction of the band. Fortunately, the bands talent and creativity shined through on their solid live album. “Forever howlong” is an incredible follow up record that shows that BCNR is still a force to be reckoned with. “Besties” the opening track has that signature BCNR vibe with more of an emphasis on that baroque pop sound. There are some points where I would have liked more clarity in the production, especially ... read more
Vanisher era has begun! It’s not as bold as some of the tracks from Scrapyard, but hearing it in the context of the album might help. The bossa nova elements are woven in nicely and the vocals are great. There are some parts that feel slighty repetitive, but I still like overall flow and progression of the track. Quad continues to show why he’s a jack of all trades.

Gawd damn. I think it might be even better then the last single. The EDM elements are a nice stark contrast to the heavier elements of the track. Cole Haden’s vocals are as haunting as always, he sounds more XIU XIU then ever, and honestly I’m here for it. The guitar feedback loop is absolutely insane. It scratches an itch that I can’t quite explain. They did it again

Chappell going country surprisingly pans out pretty well, even if I think the sound is slightly redundant and not that instrumentally dynamic. Still, vocals are great and the tune at the core is solid.
