In comparison to the rest of his catalog, this is a major step down. But will I still turn up when I hear Lit Effect? Hell Yeah.
As the 2020s progress, Synthpop continues to battle for supremacy in the fight for the sound of the decade I think Sarah could definitely be a key player in that battle. Great songwriting for most of these as well as nice vocals.
Whole lotta yap below, but yeah I liked it 👍🏽

Per J. Cole in 2013, "Your 1 listen reviews are fucking up hip hop" and honestly I agree with this statement for not just hip-hop but for music in general. I realize that this is super hypocritical on my end since I have and probably will continue to give reviews like this (as such is the nature of this website) but after letting the album simmer for a month I've been able to live a bit more with ... read more
I know Mustard gets a lot of flack for his 2010s beats all sounding the same, but his work with Ella Mai deadass all sounds the same too. When it hits, its a hit, but there's a lot of mid in there just like his 2010s run.
Vigilante has me thinking of doing some devious shit with state of the world right now ngl... that instrumental break could topple governments frfr.
Rest in Peace to Mr. Colon and Mr. Lavoe
I knew I wouldn't like this from the album title tbh. If maybe the songs were all a minute longer or combined, maybe I'd give it some grace, but a lot of the concepts and soundscapes are severely undercooked.
Britney and Max struck gold with the title track and then tried to do it again, and again, and again.
Che has some of the coolest sounding vocals in the game, but just is lacking a lot of elements to really let them shine.
The band manages their energy really well on this one, hitting hype moments and vulnerable melodies in a good batch. A perfect balance of the two of which I think is Paramore's (and Hayley's) biggest strength imo. I also completely forgot Fueled by Ramen was a thing lmao.
Shoutout the Grit and Grind legend Tony Allen. They don't make defenders like him no more. (But actual props to Tony Allen on the track though).
Very disappointed in this one, No Service has some of my favorite tracks from the last year and I was really hoping that camo could take the next step and be a contender to breakout into the mainstream, but I should've seen the short turnaround and "keep steady' as a bonus track as major red flags.
It's kinda hard to explain, but Mitski sounds like how I would imagine an omniscient narrator would sing.
The beginning vocal run for "On Bended Knee" never fails to make my heart yearn for a face I can't really make out.
Homeboy was really doing all that running around barefoot. Nasty work.
