This is about on the same level as uknowhatimsayin¿ for me. This album isn’t perfect, but the highs really make up for its slight issues. I found this to be a really boring album with some strong moments sprinkled in the middle. Not really much else to say lol. It’s incredibly forgettable.
Freddie doesn’t seem to miss. Not to mention, The Alchemist’s production is phenomenal throughout this project. Freddie’s flows fit perfectly with this albums softer and more laid back production. This was an absolutely beautiful album that feels as though it’s been ripped straight out of the 80s. For me, songs like “That’s My Floor” and “Death & Romance” stick out in particular. The vocals on this are great and the production balances calm instrumentation with loud and even distorted sounds well throughout the album. I’m not the biggest fan of pop music (at least not of late), but this album is absolutely infectious and hard not to enjoy.
I loved McKinley’s previous album, Beloved! Paradise! Jazz!, but this is a step up in almost every way. The jazz instrumentation takes a step up throughout this album and really grabs your attention and maintains it throughout the album.
