Some of these songs really require better vocals. It's like she's too embarrased to sing at times and emotion is lost. However there are great vocals in songs like Flat Earther and Questions which don't appear in other songs. I get the vibe she tried to emulate Sabrina Carpenter at times, and it only worked in My Regards.
Very representative of a shift in the last 10-20 years of the industry. Nobody wants to start a band anymore, they want to be the whole act. She's a ... read more
Was looking for a banger with the same highs as Shake It and accidentally got transported back in time.
(Wait what the fuck is everyone saying in these reviews. Yall crazy and media literacy is truly dead. How do y'all not comprehend that most songs about being a teenager are gonna be published by adults, and that songs are narratives with characters that often represent a period in people's life. Seventeen Forever is about BEING a teenager.)
Seventeen was a banger, it's why I listened to the full album. However that song outshone the rest of the album. The other songs are honestly background music in comparison. I forgot I was even listening to this during the last 3 songs. Is that good? Bad? Well idk but that one song left me wanting more that isn't there.
This and Short n Sweet saved pop music.
In 20+ years, people will look back on this album, see Casual, Red Wine Supernova, Hot To Go, Pink Pony Club (to only name A FEW), and they'll think "wow, they don't make music like this anymore."
Some of these songs are all time classics but you cannot convince me all of these are good.
A masterpiece and worth every bit of hype. Perfectly captures being 18-19 and finally choosing to not be sad.
Honestly kind of boring compared to their other work, and I'm shocked its the fandom's golden child.
I will always see these songs as "new" top songs, in a way that I don't view their more recent albums.
However I would be lying if I say the songs aren't good. I just can't say I love this album.
Fuck yall this album was the perfect characterisation of post-lockdown euphoria and weirdness.
Singlehandedly destroyed nonchalantslop. This and Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess unironically saved pop music. Songs like Juno were just NOT being made. . Actually has character and comedy that works
Imagine stanning Olivia hard after SOUR and she drops this...
Can't believe there was a time where the Olivia Rodrigo fandom didn't have this album. It is the epitome of what she was always going for.
Crazy how the worst songs on this are still extremely good, there are just insane standouts.
Best 3 single run of all time.
I hated this album for years, it's such an acquired taste.
A perfect 50% album because it consistently has their worst songs ever released while also having a few of their best. Never thought "can this next one please be good" so much in one listen. Genuinely don't know what they were thinking releasing Overcompensate. Some songs genuinely feel like he's hitting the wrong notes (Midwest Indigo, Routines in the Night). And why the single version of The Craving is so much better than the album version, I'll never ... read more
