Yeaaaaah gotta be honest. The rollout for this really left a sour taste in people's mouths before this shit was even released. Myself included. Before listening and even after the first listen I was already setting myself to be disapointed by the album just out of how insufferable he was while promoting it. Which sucks, because ever since LP! he's been one of my absolute favorite artists out there. But this album really got me wondering: Was my GOAT always this washed???

HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT
I literally cant stop listening to this. How does she?? How does she make a practically perfect track list? Why is every single song here catchy as fuck I CANTTTT. How are these lyrics both extremely vulnerable yet go hard as a motherfucker??? MY GOD THE PERFORMANCE AND THE PRODUCTION AND THE EVERYTHING WHAT?!?!?!?!?!
Yeah i kinda liked the album.
Ok, I legit wanted to like this album. I dont hate Jacob Collier as much as people seem to do recently. He seems like a chill and fun guy to be around with. And its clear to see he LOVES music. He's passionate about it, he seems passionate talking about it. And that light does shine through at points in these album. The first four tracks or so are legit fun. Some weird decisions here and there but i was actually enjoying myself. I was soooo ready to give this like a 7/10 and say it was an ... read more
I reaaaally expected to love this album but goddamn it. Production got too repetitive as the album went on. Which sucks because i do think this artist has so much potential on their hands. It is definitely such an unique sound palette, with overwhelming glitchy passages that perfectly encapsulate the album cover and that gives the project an anxious vibe, like it never takes a break. Sadly those same passages become too much at times, it clashes so hard with the melodies it overshadows them. ... read more
THERES A SECOND CHILD????? HE DOES WHAT TO MINORS??????
Actual fucking venom. I feel threatened and it isnt even about me. Its a demolishment of character, an actual murder happening in front of us. Its like those MMA fights where the guy is bleeding uncontrolably, on the floor with no more energy to fight back, yet his rival keeps hitting and hitting again, the referee not doing anything to stop the battle. So brutal is not even fun anymore.
Theres a line that was crossed here, and as ... read more
Ok, so i don't get swans yet.
Some of the longer songs on here definitely lose me at some point of the drone parts. The kind of patience and tolerance needed to fully pay attention to a song like "Bring the sun/Toussaint L'overture" is something i just dont have as of now, so ill probably not return to some of these tracks in a while.
But I´ll be completely honest. There´s not a single song on here that isn´t a mindblowing experience at some point. These are the ... read more
Pure unadulteraded melancholy. Such an underrated album, and It really doesnt need to do much to prove It. Just a really solid and beautifully sad Dream pop/shoegaze sound combined with effective hooks and simple but heart-wrenching lyrics about love and depression. Its a simple sad-boy album and not only knows that, but executes It so well.
Edit: 72 -> 85. I was so wrong lmaooooo. What an amazing album to dance to.
I love the funk and guitar play in a lot of this songs and they can lead to fantastical pieces! But theres few tracks that I can say im in love with. Its a fun album that sometimes feels like It could be more fun than It Is, as half of its track list hasnt worked Its magic on me. Some of its Hooks are not particularly catchy to me and It can become annoying in songs like "Swamp". Yet the mood of the whole ... read more
I aint gonna believe the fact that these are just 3 dudes.
The music has the power of an entire orchestra, creating a heart-wrenching performance that just soars in expression. I can vividly imagine the movie like sequences that these songs embody: from a Lonesome cowboy riding his way into nowhere on "Sue's last ride", to a man soaking himself in sorrow as His feelings and regrets overtake him in "at the bar", to a hopeful and triumphant ride home on ... read more
For such a weird and insane moment in ye's career, I expected something a little less mid. Not even amazing, just something More interesting.
First half was honestly kinda decent? Stars Is my favorite of the album and thats probably because Peggy was on production, so theres that. But as the album went on I just became more annoyed by It.
Production just got worse, idk if Its because I started paying attention to them but the beats just started getting More amateur and ugly. Couldnt get into ... read more
Instantly fell in love with her vocals and production, Its a pretty good album to vibe to. But damn Is It long. And I dont think theres a good reason for that. Theres no outright blunder on here but It does drag by the second half. Especially since I feel like It starts to repeat itself a lot, lyrically and structure wise. Theres not much variety, feels like a curated Spotify RnB playlist. Its not something Im gonna be listening to back to back again, but SZA Is an incredibly talented artist ... read more
God I love His vocals. I dont think Ive ever seen a lot of artists go apeshit like this, but there goes another thing to add to my list of things I didnt know I needed. And that Energy Is what Made me fall in love with the album. The performances are inmaculate and just the right amount of unhinged for It to be contagious and memorable. Truly the album to go apemode on.
The kind of album that makes you feel like a nahual on the Hills. The quintessential latín Alternative álbum. Every song on here Is worthy of being a classic in mexican rock. All of them have memorable Hooks and great compositions that take from psychedelia and mexican folklore, not a single track Is not a W.
I love this album and I wish more people outside the latín scene gave this projects a shot despite the language barrier.
The fact that Kali Is literally mother rn.
Production on this album Is great, Its dreamy as all heck and I love the sound palette. Its the first álbum from her Ive heard all the way and those vocals are ANGELIC. I just wish some of the songs had more exciting compositions, because I forgot about a lot of tracks on here. But the ballads like Te mata or tu corazón es mío are great and the reggaeton cuts are so fun. Kind of a hit or miss for me but I left liking the project ... read more
Getting into long form projects that require a lot of patience and attention from your end has been pretty difficult for me, but damn did this album clicked with me. Its emotional rock passages are entrancing and extremely satisfying. It sounds like what the cover art looks like: rainy, moody, perfect for a night drive. For someone thats tipping their toes into post-rock, this Is a pretty great projects.
Brad be like: Ive seen the light.
One of the albums with the Best flows of all Time. At this point It feels weird going to one song and not do the rest of It. Maybe not all of them hold themselves up perfectly, like "I dont love you anymore", which Is why Is not a 10 for me. But the vocals? The beats?? THE PRODUCTION???
Tyler served with this one, Im so glad this has become a modern classic.
This feels like the reassurance of a good friend in your lowest point.
