An album filled with unreleased songs, B-sides and covers manages to be pretty, pretty good. I feel like most of these songs would have been good enough to make the actual albums they were recorded for, but I think that is just a testament to Green Day's quality of output at the time. Any Green Day fan that has not given this album a listen yet should definitely change that.
This is actually a solid album. It is nothing revolutionary or redefining for Green Day but it is a way for Green Day to get back on track. I think Dilemma is a really solid track especially for modern Green Day standards. This is a great bounce back record from whatever that previous effort was and actually gives me hope for future Green Day. But why does One Eyed Bastard sound like that one Pink song?
While I think the title track is a little fun, this album is a disaster. This is also a disgrace to the American Idiot album cover. I'm not sure what happened here but I would like for it to not happen again.
As much as I am a Trilogy defender, I also can recognize that this is a massive improvement from that and is an actual solid release for modern Green Day. Again, this doesn't really touch anything pre-Trilogy, but it probably the best album Green Day has put out in the last decade or so. I also think that Still Breathing is one of the best Green Day songs.
