Green Day - Shenanigans

An album filled with unreleased songs, B-sides and covers manages to be pretty, pretty good. I feel like most of these songs would have been good enough to make the actual albums they were recorded for, but I think that is just a testament to Green Day's quality of output at the time. Any Green Day fan that has not given this album a listen yet should definitely change that.

This is actually a solid album. It is nothing revolutionary or redefining for Green Day but it is a way for Green Day to get back on track. I think Dilemma is a really solid track especially for modern Green Day standards. This is a great bounce back record from whatever that previous effort was and actually gives me hope for future Green Day. But why does One Eyed Bastard sound like that one Pink song?

Green Day - Father of All…

While I think the title track is a little fun, this album is a disaster. This is also a disgrace to the American Idiot album cover. I'm not sure what happened here but I would like for it to not happen again.

As much as I am a Trilogy defender, I also can recognize that this is a massive improvement from that and is an actual solid release for modern Green Day. Again, this doesn't really touch anything pre-Trilogy, but it probably the best album Green Day has put out in the last decade or so. I also think that Still Breathing is one of the best Green Day songs.

Green Day - ¡Tré!

This one is infinitely better than Dos. Way more consistent throughout and honestly overall, a pretty solid effort. This doesn't come close to albums prior to the Trilogy but this is still a good effort from them.

Green Day - ¡Dos!

Like I said, I definitely have nostalgia for this album, but looking back on it, yeeaahhh it's kind of rough. I really like the opener See You Tonight and there are some quality tracks throughout, but man there are some rough ones on here. From Fuck Time to Makeout Party and then to Nightlife. Yikes. But overall, this album can still be a fun time when listened to with no one else around so that you don't get made fun of.

Green Day - ¡Uno!

I am not afraid to say it, I am a Trilogy defender. I was in high school when the trilogy was released so I definitely had these playing on repeat, burning out the CD player in my used Jeep Liberty. Now are these albums the best things that Green Day has released? No, they are not. They also vary in quality. I think the best thing they could have done would have been to trim a lot of the fat on these albums and just release one tight and compact album. I do think that Uno is the best of the ... read more

Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown

It's as if Green Day saw the success of American Idiot and decided, that's it, we've found our sound and we are now strictly a rock opera band. This is still a very good album but it doesn't quite stick like American Idiot did. This album does end up feeling a little bloated with a run time of over an hour while not really switching things up sonically so some of the songs can kind of blend into each other. With all of that said, this is most certainly not a bad album, just ... read more

Green Day - American Idiot

This album once again shows Green Day willing to switch things up. This time with a concept album that is essentially a rock opera. Jesus of Suburbia is easily one of my favorite Green Day songs. This album is timeless as it is just as relevant today as it was in 2004. This is an all time classic and honestly a must listen for anyone interested in pop punk. This is a classic.

Green Day - Warning:

This is Green Day once again switching it up with a more acoustic/folky vibe. This is the quintessential underrated album. While it may not reach the heights of their previous work or even an album that would be released in the next few years, this is still a great album from them and a must listen for any Green Day fan. This showed that Green Day was not afraid to switch things up and for the most part, it was done to great success.

Green Day - nimrod.

After two albums that were incredibly sonically similar, Green Day comes out with Nimrod. Way more experimental than anything the band had done so far. They went all out with more instrumentation than ever before and that creates an album that sounds so full and is a pleasure to listen to. While the track list may be slightly bloated at 18 songs, it doesn't really over stay its welcome. This should be considered one of Green Day's best, but I feel as though it is severely underrated.

Green Day - Insomniac

This is essentially Dookie Part 2. It is like they saw how incredibly well Dookie was doing and said, "We need to do that again." Now this is not necessarily a bad thing as I don't think anyone would be upset with more Dookie. Most of the songs on this record are about 2 minutes in length so it goes by pretty quickly. You don't really find yourself latching onto much because before you know it, the album is over. I know this sounds like a lot of negativity but this is a ... read more

What more is to be said about this masterpiece that hasn't already been said? It's a classic for a reason. Every single song is easily recognizable and memorable. The fun and high energy is still here with a lot cleaner production while still keeping some of the rawness that the band started with. She is an all time favorite of mine and F.O.D. is underrated in my opinion. This is easily their best work even if it isn't their only masterpiece.

Green Day - Kerplunk!

Green Day improves in every aspect from their first EPs on Kerplunk. This is their second album and there is no sophomore slump detected. So many classics grace this album such as 2000 Light Years Away, Christie Road and Welcome to Paradise, which was so good, it was re-recorded for Dookie. This album still has all the rawness and fun of the EPs but also pushes the band into better songwriting and song structures. And I stand by the fact that Dominated Love Slave is a good and fun song!

Green Day - 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours

Their first album plus a compilation of early EPs, 1,039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours is a great place to start your Green Day journey since it is also the beginning of their journey. A fun, raw, and energy filled album, that really gives you a great view of where this band began and what they would become. You can see the potential just from this album alone Even at their rawest, this is still one of Green Day's better albums. Some standouts to me from this album are At The Library, Going To ... read more

Hot Mulligan - Why Would I Watch

This album is an absolute masterpiece. The lyrical content is incredibly deep and the instrumentation is so tight and relentlessly catchy. I've been obsessed with the album since it released and that has shown no signs of slowing down. The vocals are an easy standout here with passionate screams. Songs like Cock Party 2, Smahccked My Head Awf, and It's a Family Movie She Hates Her Dad are just a few of the finest selections from this masterclass of emo. Perfect album.

blink-182 - ONE MORE TIME...
80

The first album to feature Tom back in Blink in a very long time could have been a disaster but I couldn't be happier with the results. For a band that is known for being immature and childish, there is a lot of maturity, growth and reflection on this album (while also still having room for the occasional masturbation joke every now and then). While songs like Childhood, Fell In Love, and When We Were Young may not be Blink's best work, songs like Dance With Me, Anthem Part 3, More ... read more

For a band this far into their career, it would be easy to count them out and just assume that their best work is behind them. You could say that Is This Thing Cursed? was just an anomaly and that no band can be that consistent this late into their career, but here we are. There are a couple of songs on here like Scars and Shake With Me that don't hit as much as the others do, but songs like Break, Bad Time and Broken Down in a Time Machine make up for that in every way. The guys are ... read more

I was curious to see what a follow up to Nurture would look like and was curious to see if anything could compare to how incredible that album is. So the question would be, is this album as good as Nurture? I think in short, the answer is no and that is okay. Because this album is so so so very good. The instrumentation feels a lot more ear wormy on this album than the last and even though it sounds a lot more fun and whimsical, the lyrics are just as reflective as ever. The slower and more ... read more

This is easily one of the most beautiful and personal albums I have ever listened to in my entire life. It is very rare to find an album that you can repeatably come back to and listen to it like it is the first time that you are hearing it. Absolutely incredible and one of my favorite albums of all time.
