Hits hard in middle school, then you discover nuance and you realize this album sucks. I think if you completely ignore needing engaging melodies and harmonies, vibrant performances, subtle and sharp witted lyricism, self awareness, having palatable textures, and focusing on substantive writing, this album has some cool, albeit half-baked ideas. But it's hard to do that. I think it misses the point of it's influences, the nihilistic approach and all. Since when was nihilism so ... read more
Feels like a warm hug on a cold winter evening. It grooves yet flows effortlessly. The ability to create such serene soundscapes with altering instrumentation creates a plethora of parts to this record that put you in a perfect state of euphoria. I can study in peace now.
Would sound better with some trap beats and some spacey, unmixed, garage band synths but it's good as it is I guess
I'm glad Duster is finally reaching the point in which they receive the recognition they deserve but I never thought it would be from TikTok. I guess all publicity is good publicity?
Now that is what I would declare worthy of the revered namesake which consists of audio frequencies designed for a listeners enjoyment that one could conclude should be awarded with the description of "music". Volume 69.
Silly Canadians say fuck the government in the name of god's urine
I think it's a valid statement to argue that The Natural Bridge is THE Silver Jews record, but American Water, to me, perfectly encapsulated the sharpened, depressive wit of David Berman. While The Natural Bridge struggles more and feels more problematic, American Water sees a more mature lyricist fight his demons and come to grips with his mental health. He just has a confidence on this record that I feel is unmatched throughout his career. This album seems effortless and completely deliberate ... read more
-Yankee-Hotel-Foxtrot- (REAL REVIEW)
One of my all time favorite records, and to be honest, this record has aged immaculately. The album seems to subtly take tons of small, well-calculated risks that combine to a visceral yet unfamiliar experience. The lyricism on this record courtesy of Tweedy completely fit the atmospheric alternative folk sound and give the perfect feeling of a hangover. The album is one of the perfect gateways to slightly noisier music without feeling overbearing at all. ... read more
My favorite emo album of all time!
Nah but seriously, it's a Bob Weston produced record from the golden era of indie/post-hardcore, what did you expect?
Best driving course for new drivers to get their permit! highly suggest.
When you get that funny feeling
Way down low
Just stop what you’re doing
And go go go!
What are you doing? Where did you go?
What are you doing? I want to know!
I went to the potty, and washed my hands too
I went to the potty like the big kids do!
How do I do that? How do I go?
How do I do that? I want to know!
Just sit on the potty, sit and wait
Sit on the potty and it will be great!
I’m sitting on the potty, ready to go
But nothing is happening, and why, I don’t ... read more
The Punjabi-Canadian MC returns from his eight-week retirement with a droning collection of listless would-be bangers.
When Nav announced his retirement two months ago, hip-hop fans, for the most part, could care less. The Punjabi-Canadian MC made the decision out of solidarity with his buddy Lil Uzi Vert, a far superior talent who had recently declared that he was “done with music.” In hindsight the move was predictable; Nav has always been a creature of imitation, cribbing the ... read more
Announcer: Ah, the sea. So fascinating. So wonderful. Here, we see Bikini Bottom, teeming with life, home to one of my favorite creatures, SpongeBob SquarePants. Yes, of course he lives in a pineapple, you silly. (The giant foghorn wakes up SpongeBob)
SpongeBob: Today's the big day, Gary!
Gary: Meow!
SpongeBob: Look at me! I'm naked! (Gets His Pants On) Gotta be in top physical condition for today, Gary.
Gary: Meow!
SpongeBob: (SpongeBob tries to throw a weight) I'M READY!! I'm ready! I'm ... read more
