I was never really into Eminem. He undoubtedly built a legacy in rap and left an everlasting mark on music, whether you like it or not. When he veers into more personal territory without forcing that persona filled with jokes, that's when I can enjoy his work more. Recovery has those moments, but they seem rarer than common. Some choices are quite questionable, and it didn't excite me much.
Dips into the country trend that was on the rise at the time, and there isn't much that stands out. At least it maintains consistency throughout the album and features some intriguing instrumentals.
"The Fame Monster" is an extension of "The Fame", but not just a deluxe version with fillers. It's genuinely an extension and MUCH better, and I already think "The Fame" is a good album. "Kill 'em with the sound" is a very accurate statement. Man, this is REALLY bad, no joke. It's bad to the extent that it made me question whether the ones I thought were good are actually good or if it was just nostalgia getting to me. Everything that comes after 'I Gotta Feeling' is an attempt at making electronic pop for parties, with lousy rhymes, lazy production, and heavy doses of embarrassment.
This concept it's a bit confusing because this alter ego doesn't offer much that's different from what Beyoncé had already presented. Everything here screams "cover band". There are good intentions, and the songs are enjoyable in their own way, but there's no personality, it feels like any dad's band. Each song seems to be taken from a different artist, and even the sound isn't consistent between them, not to mention it feels dated.
Something important to consider about Lady Gaga's debut is that, although it didn't reinvent the wheel, it was an album that had a significant influence when it was released. This would've been a great chance for Fergie to separate herself from the Black Eyed Peas and do something more unique. Yet, she keeps Will.i.am involved in everything, which I just can't fathom. He's the GOAT and keeps proving it. Dropping another EP like it's no big deal, Zach Bryan showcases all his best artist traits, and even in just a few tracks, he leaves his personality stamped. I'm going to listen to this a lot.
I went in expecting some country, and I got pop-rock. Maybe inspired by the genre's return to the top of the charts, Cassadee goes back to her roots with "Thrive". It's quite harmless for the most part and can make for a good time listening. The thing is, bringing this sound in 2021 without sounding dated requires a bit more effort, and that seems to be missing here. It ends up feeling like a run of the mill 2000s album released way too late in 2021.
"Pageant Material" is Kacey's most country-rooted album, filled with beautiful melodies and razor-sharp lyrics. If you don't like this album, you probably don't like country music, plain and simple. What makes this record exceptional is how Kacey manages to step away from the commercial country that was dominating the charts at the time, without completely succumbing to the easily digestible pop-country trends. There's nothing out of the ordinary here, but it's a well-done ordinary. It has some more inspired moments, and the sound is more enjoyable than much of the country music that's topping the charts these days.

There's something in Arlo Parks' vocals that's so beautiful and makes you want to keep listening non-stop. I believe that if I listen to this album more times, it will grow on me, but on the first impression, it already left a positive mark. Although it flowed well for me, some moments felt a bit monotonous, which didn't elevate the work as much for me. Still, it's a good album, with highlights like "Purple Phase" and "Room (Red Wings)".
