This is gonna be a short and gushy review but I remember when I first heard this back in 2020. There's not a lot of music that I've listened to in my life that gave me an out of body experience on first listen, but this pulled my soul out of my body and danced within the noise for the full run time of this album. Even as I revisit it now I can feel it pulling at my core.
For something so alien it makes so much sense to me, like my mind is tricking me into thinking I can follow the rhythm and ... read more
This may be my longest review yet.
The debut album release on Inspected after 12 years of operation, and Vorso's debut album also. This is a record I've been putting off, even though I purchased the Gold Vinyl package with the signature and 5 prints. It's a long one - clocking in at 1 hour and 31 minutes and it's an album I was nervously anticipating. INSP050, initially teased for a March announcement/release, was pushed back a lot assumedly due to production delays but also possibly for final ... read more
This is quite a beautiful two track single very reminiscent of Jon Hopkins. Although maybe not tracks I'll be coming back to the time with them was quite wonderful. Really takes me back to tracks like Open Eye Signal and Breathe This Air. A great blend of organic instrumentation and deep electronic basslines, this is a really sweet couple of tracks!

The final Powered by Inspected as of writing this! Maybe one day it'll come back but I don't think this series was as successful as they were hoping.
This is another compilation of decent tunes. Again nothing mindblowing, just solid Drum and Bass across all four tracks. "Kodiak" and "Bandit" are pretty fun but are tunes I'll likely never come back to.
Cheesy singer-songwriter edm/dubstep for almost 40 minutes. I can see why this has been scrubbed from all streaming platforms. The production is "fine" but comes across as a major downgrade from charming bedroom production 5 years ago to cookie cutter no soul production 5 years later. I cannot get through any of this without recoiling in pain. Gemini showed a lot of promise coming off of his last EP but this throws all hope out of the window.
If this is your thing I am so sorry I do ... read more

Had some time with the full release now. God this is good.
This is possibly the darkest Deep Dubstep release Sorrow has put out since Arisen, and even then I think this goes even further than what that EP did. The name of the game with Dark Zone is the deepest sub basses imaginable. It's menacing. It's hair raising. It's beautiful. This is also my favourite Sorrow release since Arisen.
The title track is immaculate. I've not been able to stop listening to it since the single ... read more
This is a stunning release from voljum. I'm at a loss for words, really. Experimental and boundary pushing bass music, "dayscapes" mixes beautiful organic instrumentation with corrupting and abstract synths and basses into this almost sensory war as either side vies for your attention in a way that brings out the best in both parts. The only track here I'm not as partial to is "components" as I'm not resonating with how abstract and wonky that tune goes but in no way is it ... read more
Solid LP! It's a very long one at just over 1hr 38min for the full unmixed record from Bandcamp and this definitely is just a big collection of tracks to seed some crates or get thrown into a playlist. For every tune here that doesn't really hit there's another absolute rager on the track list. Heaven Sent, Intimacy, Howler, Vapor & Follow The Rhythm are all going straight into my mixes and even the stuff I'm not so crazy about could definitely get picked up in the mix. Although I wouldn't ... read more
This is a really awesome EP from gyrofield! A really abstract blend of IDM and Neuro, taking some inspiration from the mid to late 90's and then blasting it forward a good 25 years into a sea of corruption and malformed data. Although something I may not come back to often, there is a lot here to be enjoyed!
"Silk" is a bit of a throwback for me, with a sound palette reminiscent of The Future Sound of London. The clicks that underpin some of the track brings me straight back to Dead ... read more

I was really on the fence with this release going into it. I heard "...jook 'til i die" earlier this year and I really enjoyed some tracks out of there but as a full album experience I wasn't really into it. Tracks like "Beat the shit out of the person", "is there a point (girl u know)" and "Obliterate the Shit out of a SEWERSLVT Fan in WALGREENS for the most Obvious reasoning" were absolute rinsers, and the remix of "Tep and the ... read more
I find this EP quite pleasant (as compared to the absolute nightmare that is the cover art)! Nothing here really blows me away, but the general vibe and production on this release is pretty good. Dark and crunchy production underpins a very pleasant sound palette for the majority of the runtime here. It's not exactly chill music but it also isn't a project of filth and/or absolute ragers, kind of existing in a no mans land between the two where you're not gonna sit down and listen to it to ... read more
Absolutely fantastic release. I was very nervous going into this one as after hearing two of the singles I wasn't really feeling it but the opener really blew my expectations out of the water. Incredibly moving at times, with production that makes my hairs stand up, this is just brilliant. It's very much not a casual listen as the detailed textures demand your full attention so I anticipate multiple listens will be hard for me but this is a brilliant release.

We're here at Series 2 now and I kinda... don't care about anything on here? "Transmute" is a pretty solid neuro tune but everything else on here is just okay. Production wise everything here is good, but none of the tracks really jump out at me. Someone else might get something out of this, I'm just not really feeling this one overall.
As per usual with Baby Gravy, this is another really fun release. I kind of just... don't really care to go back to anything here. It's an album that I can "he he ha" at when it's on but outside of a couple tracks that I actually enjoyed most of the tracklist is just bbno$ and Yung Gravy having fun in the studio which you know, pop off kings. I've always appreciated the quirks that come with these two as they really do seem to love what they do but their projects are really hard to ... read more

Powered by Inspected has gone bitesize! As a plan to help flesh out their slowing release schedule, Inspected started experimenting with a format where they would release smaller EPs. Considering they got to three of them before things went quiet, it's safe to say that it didn't quite work out. Still, I'd rather have more tunes than none at all so I appreciate the experiment.
Series 1 is fine. Nothing here really blows me away and it definitely comes off as ... read more
Absolutely FILTHY! I love the phonk like vocal sample that underpins the tune and Flowdan absolutely kills it over this dirty number. My only problem with it is that it feels too short. We'll see if there's an extended mix on Beatport in the future as we did get one with Fine Day but I'm not expecting anything there. Time to rinse this one out.
Big fan of this one. Skope's production is masterful at this point, and there's barely a miss across the entire run time. "Jaded" is awesome, with a big focus on the deeper soundscapes. "Circuit" is my favourite tune, dropping in with this sweeping bass that washes over you. The title track I'm not resonating with as much as the rest of the tracks here but is still a rude bop. "Hoops" I'd say is the most contentious tune here, having this negative space sound to ... read more
This is a really lovely EP from RefraQ! "The Phasmid" is a gorgeous sonic adventure with this rhythm that constantly ticks and shifts. "Plucked From The Pixie Ring" is a fun and peppy tune that is a blast to listen to. "Voices Of Aorr" I don't think is quite on the same par as the rest of the EP being a very long and drawn out tune that I think goes on a little too long but it's still got a lovely soundscape to it all. "Necromancer" finished this EP off ... read more
This wasn't quite what I was expecting from Glume & Phossa's debut album. Phossa's chirpy and sunny style reigns over the entire project and I was hoping for a nice blend of both the deep and menacing as well as the upbeat and cheerful. Now is this necessarily a bad thing? No, I wouldn't say so. The problem I have sadly is that most of the runtime the tracks come off as very one dimensional and lack any real impact.
"Open" is the intro to the album and first hearing this I was ... read more
