I preordered the vinyl and got it early... really great stuff from Madlib here. Kieran really put this together into an amazing body of work too. It's unlike any Madlib album before, not really any formula or concept, but there are so many different kinds of grooves. There are jazzy punchy, weird instrumentals, primal grooves in the title track, a touching Dilla tribute.
As someone who was a big fan of his last album, this one disappointed me. Gone are the interesting beats and quality features, you can really tel Cudi made this one in just 2 weeks.
This album definitely big tribe influence, but also has some really cool original ideas. This is The Root’s most fun record
