Mick Jenkins - The Circus

"The Circus" EP is definitely a great hype for Jenkin's eventual upcoming LP. The expectations have been high for Jenkins for quite some time now so I can see why some people may have been disappointed by this EP. However, Jenkins delivers some bars in his lyricism which is his best part of his rapping ability. He has a groovy bounce in his production and is consistent with his flow on most songs. I feel Jenkins doesn't have a lot of high energy in his songs as some of them take a ... read more

Royce da 5'9'' - The Allegory

After listening to "The Allegory", Royce Da 5'9'" still has it. He's really evolved since breaking out into the rap scene in 2002. The LP goes pretty hard as Royce focuses on his self-improvement and tops his last album "Book of Ryan". The intro "Mr. Grace" does a great job of capturing listeners to want more with his message of racism and America today. We got a solid Marvin Gaye sample on the next song "Dope Man" as well as a couple of skits here ... read more

Pop Smoke - Meet The Woo 2

I first came across Pop Smoke after he was featured on Travis Scott's record label album "JACKBOYS". I wasn't a fan of the song GATTI but Pop Smoke brought an energy like never before on the track. So going into Meet the Woo 2, I was expecting him to bring the same energy and he delivered. I'm not the biggest fan of his rap style and tone but the energy he brings on Meet the Woo 2 is crazy. Between the New York accent and thug vibe energy, Pop Smoke sounded like he was going to change ... read more

YoungBoy Never Broke Again - Still Flexin, Still Steppin

I don't get the hype around NBA Youngboy. The album was hard to listen to and finish in full length. Granted, his last album AI Youngboy 2 gave me hope that Youngboy would improve on the next album. However, every single song on this LP sounds the same. The intro "RIP Lil Phat" was a good start to the LP he brings this swag and hype energy on a trap instrumental. But the LP just doesn't get any better after this song. Every song sounds like he recorded through apple headphones and ... read more

Russ - SHAKE THE SNOW GLOBE

I'm not the biggest Russ fan, never have been and never will be. I don't believe he's the worst artist out there like everyone says, there are plenty of other artists that are way much worse than Russ. Shake the Snow Globe is the follow up to the album "Zoo" from 2018 which I didn't like. However, this album is a slight improvement from Zoo but Shake the Snow Globe is a boring and lifeless album. My problem with Russ is that he sounds so boring on all the songs he puts out and there's ... read more
