Spiderland is one of the greatest underground records. the album feels diverse in a way that all of it fits together into its own seperate thing. it has different aspects and elements from different genres of rock, that being post-rock, post hardcore, math rock. they have taken these 3 genres and blended it into something beautiful and unique. the blaring guitars found in Nosferatu Man, the mellowness of Washer, and the despairing grooviness found in Good Morning, Captain. it's all so good, ... read more
in contrast to White Light, this album is much more FOLK and less NEO, its not particularly my thing, i enjoyed the epic ballads found in White Light much more (i gave it a 98) but this album is still good. its a much more chill and accessible album, i wouldn't mind it playing in the background while im doing something
this album does not feel like its own thing, it literally takes songs off of greed and puts them here pretending to be a sequel when they just sound the same, the songs "a hanging", "a screw", and "another you" are all amazing songs, because its swans, but the rest of this album just falls so flat. it has such good songs but i can't give it more than a 60 because it fails to be an album, and i dont really like the song "coward", the guitar is sick on that ... read more
