Sweet Trip - Velocity : Design : Comfort.

Loved You Will Never Know Why for a good while, fell in love instantly with this one.
The glitchy IDM production mixed with soft pop vocals, with a sprinkle of shoegaze on top, is not a genre combination I expected it to work this well. Every song is insanely immersive and beautiful, with just the right amount of avant-garde experimental production. It's truly an indescribable feeling of getting lost in a different world.

This album is the fastest 100 I have ever given in my life, and I ... read more

The 5 songs Nicolas Jaar produced on this album might be some of the best pop music I've ever heard. Maybe because of this I don't really enjoy "holy terrain" and "daybed", but even with 2 tracks that I'm not too big on I still love this album as a whole.

highlights : thousand eyes, home with you, sad day, ★ 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗱𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗲, cellophane

first impression review #7

An artist this caliber should not get away with this mess of a rollout, when the final product is quite literally just ok.

Unlike Carti's previous albums, where he pretty much mastered his trends, this one sounds redundant, and even grating at worst. The entire album pretty much sounds like what we've already heard from his contemporaries and even artists under his own label. There are a few highlights that I enjoyed a lot, but the feeling becomes ... read more

G-DRAGON - Übermensch

Immediately, from Übermensch's first second to the very last, I have not felt satisfied, enlightened, or even a single urge to revisit the project. There was no song in the album that showed me any growth as an artist, it was just, plane and simple pop rap, like plain white bread.

TOO BAD only stood out from Anderson .Paak's performance, listening to the song only made me wanting to go listen to his albums instead. POWER is a catchy and braggadocios rap track that although stood ... read more

Radiohead - Kid A

Kid A. This is my favorite Radiohead album, and one of my all time favorite albums. So what makes this album so special?

The main factor that I fell in love with is the futuristic production. Considering this album was published 25 years ago, songs like Kid A, Idioteque, and How To Disappear Completely nail the apocalyptic and isolated soundscape.

From the album's first note, the tone sets in and establishes itself. It isn't like the traditional Rock soundscape, the songs are filled ... read more

it's a very fine song but why does every piano related channel on youtube shorts obsessed with playing this song exactly

Kendrick Lamar - DAMN.

this album continues to age horribly every year, especially after all the music we've gotten in the last few years.

the thing with this album is that the high point is crazy good, but there are way too many duds that either drag for way too long or is just not that great. YAH is annoying, LOYALTY sounds tacky, HUMBLE did not age well with overexposure and dated instrumentals, and GOD has odd lyrics and melodies that stick out like a sore thumb.

sure this album still has some of his ... read more

Kanye West - Late Registration
NR

this was kanye at his absolute prime in terms of everything. charisma, rapping, sampling, curating features and sequencing is all on point. my personal favorite kanye album and one of my top picks for best rap albums of all time.

...which is what i would've left the review as, with a 100 score, if it wasn't kanye himself throwing out the crumbs of reputation left from him. even with a great project, i just cannot support this guy anymore. the guy keeps disappointing his fans with his ... read more

my first ever post-rock album, and surprisingly it clicked with my first listen!

i honestly did not know how to expect going into one of these post-rock albums, especially an album GY!BE. i remember listening to Providence for a little bit because of its crazy length, but didn't get much from it and why people love this genre.

i finally took the bandage off and sat down to listen to this one and yeah, i understand it now. granted it took a while, i mean a ... read more

awesome kickass instrumentals, weird unorthodox vocals.

the vocals caught me off guard so much, the contrast between heavy Noise Rock sound and the vocals that almost sounds like alvin and the chipmunks just don't really mix at all personally.
i really do hope this grows on me since the soundscape outside of the vocals are amazing to me (and not to mention the gorgeous album cover as well), but for my first few listens, didn't enjoy it too ... read more

i have been a HYUKOH fan ever since their debut, after hearing Wi ing Wi ing for the first time back in 2014.
although i haven't been keeping track of their music for a decent bit after moving from SK to Canada back in 2017, i often came back to some of their hits, like TOMBOY and Tokyo Inn as comfort music.

recently i had a sudden interest to revisit some k-pop songs i used to enjoy listening to when i was a kid, and stumbled to HYUKOH's recent projects, including this one that i ... read more

i don't know how popular this take is, but i think this album is just fine. not amazing or bad, just decently good and nothing more.
sure it has catchy songs but i honestly don't really understand what this album has against any other post-britpop rock album.

that being said it does have great tracks, it just doesn't do enough to make this album stand out among the Radiohead discography.

been into a neo-soul mood lately and found this album through spotify algorithm, and MAN what a good one this album is.
the vocals are absolutely majestic and pairs extremely well with jazzy neo-soul instrumentals.
everything just works like clockwork in this album, great experience.

Kendrick Lamar - GNX

what a crazy year from Kendrick, with a great fun album to close off 2024.

"GNX" obviously wasn't meant to be a grand, cinematic project with underlying story like "good kid, m.A.A.d city" or "To Pimp A Butterfly," but rather a rap album with a heavy theme on its sound palette.
the West Coast sound dominates this album, from the list of producers, the features, to the rapping performance.

this album is full of fun bangers like "squabble up," ... read more

mixed feelings with this one.

there are REALLY GOOD songs on here, some i would consider being Gambino's best, but there are so many damn misses that I almost never come back to the album.
i like the brash experimental songs and the traditional pop oriented r&b/hip hop songs as well, it's just that i don't love anything that is sorta in between.
if the album was at least a little cohesive, i would definitely return to this album regularly.
