SINGLE DEEP DIVE - KANYE WEST
SINGLE #4: The New Workout Plan (The College Dropout, 2004)
The ending of the track is the backbone of my favorite J. Cole song, but the song is fantastic on it's own.

SINGLE #3: Jesus Walks (The College Dropout, 2004)
If only Jesus Is King was this good.
SINGLE DEEP DIVE - KANYE WEST
SINGLE #2: All Falls Down (The College Dropout, 2004)
This is another breakout from Kanye's debut album. AllMusic's smoking that top shelf boof for giving this a 60.

SINGLE #1: Through The Wire (The College Dropout, 2004)
This is a generational song, one that defines a certain era of music. It's quite an accomplishment to say that you essentially created your breakout #1 hit with your fucking jaw wired shut. Iconic beat, iconic breakout from an iconic artist.
I love how this is labeled as Comedy, when in general this is the album equivalent of a contrarian asshole who thinks his music taste is better than yours because he thinks the music you like is "too deep" or "too boring". Instead of being like "Oh hey, I don't get why you like it but I respect your opinion", no. Instead, said person constantly mocks you, gaslights you, and makes you feel bad for liking it because of his disgusting superiority complex, making you ... read more
How do you get Tyler for the video but don't give him a verse? Real talk though, I hope this means we're getting a full on collab album between Kendrick and Keem in the near future.
AJR if they were good? Nah. AJR if they were even competent at making music.
A rough, dark, extremely energetic work of art that sounds as gritty as it does entertaining. No one on this album phones it in and gives their hungriest bars and efforts, completely blowing me away. GZA, ODB, and Raekwon are the 3 that stick out the most due to how much they feel like the glue that keeps the whole Wu-Tang group together. Nothing drags, nothing is even remotely bad. The worst track on here is still great, and that 3 track run from Chessboxin' to C.R.E.A.M. goes down as an all ... read more
Shoujo Contract and Tokyo Chopp have some amazing production, and I can see a semblance of a good flow and a decent voice for rapping, but he wastes all this potential on tryhard weeb nerdcore bullshit that not even me when I was in my cringe unironic weeaboo phase would've liked or enjoyed.
HARD pass on this.
I am not a prude by any means. Porn sounds don't bother me one bit, but what this album does shouldn't even be considered music. It shouldn't even be considered art. It's just meant to be shock value and that's what instantly makes this whole thing a 0 for me. It's not music. I don't give a shit if this is supposed to be a joke or satire, there's no punchline, no reason to even think about laughing at it. I'm sure with some digging you could find the actual JAV that was sampled here, and if you ... read more
I can never take Hulk Hogan seriously. Even in my early wrestling fandom where I was just a fan of everyone, I always never saw Hulk Hogan as a serious deal, and yet he's somehow this mega-legend of the wrestling business, and he's able to sell any kind of Red and Yellow merch with his Hulkamania logo on it. Then again, Hogan is the kind of guy to surround his entire inner circle with yes men so nobody will give him push back for any dumb decision he makes. Hence, this is why this album exists. ... read more
20 Years have passed since this album came out. And over the course of the 20 years, we've had the opinion of Linkin Park change very drastically. What was once seen as a "cringe" band that only the weird emo kids liked has really bounced back into a band that was not only ahead of it's time, but one that was extremely well-respected for it's seamless blending of genres. And this is probably one of the best albums to come out of the genre. An album that is massively superior from ... read more
DISCLAIMER: My thoughts on this album do not reflect my thoughts on the person behind the album.
This is Kanye West's magnum opus. The best thing he has ever put out. And could be argued as not only one of the best Hip-Hop albums of all time, but one of the best albums of all time period. The story itself behind the album already sounds like it should be a hit. You take one of the most talented producers of the modern age, match him with numerous musical greats in the industry (rappers, ... read more
This should've been an easy slam dunk. Drake, a rap artist that is very comfortable with making mainstream club bangers and pop radio friendly singles making an entire album in that style should've been something that could've been at the very least decent, but everything that this album does is disjointed and disconnected for what it's actively trying to accomplish. The idea behind it is good on paper, A poppy artist like Drake making songs exclusively for the House/Jersey Club crowd, but ... read more
Time to give some context. Back in 2019 or so, I...hated Playboi Carti. I was still transitioning from my "Real Hip-Hop" phase into a lot of what I deem as my current music preferences, and for the longest time, even though I liked a couple of songs from Carti here and there, I saw him as a mid-tier rapper at best, and a lazy hack at worst. As you can see, I completely dislike who I used to be and went ahead to listen to relisten to this album since my initial first listen back in ... read more
I fucking hate Machine Gun Kelly as a person. However, when it comes to his musical output, I actually did enjoy his previous album, "Tickets To My Downfall", quite a bit. When I first listened to it in 2020, lapsed and unhopeful about the world of Rock music in the modern conscious of the mainstream, with a shit ton of really shitty/formulaic songs and albums, MGK's first Pop Punk record felt like a breath of fresh air. The old saying goes that; If it ain't broken, don't fix it. And ... read more
