The Cure - Songs of a Lost World
95

I saw them in concert last year and they played some songs from this album, and they were great, so I was expecting a good album but damn this was better than I expected. Super emotional and meaningful as an album, and it's come out at the perfect time to hit me completely. The production on this album is fantastic also, extremely high-quality sound and I love that. All around just a great, emotional album and its always impressive when a musician is able to maintain quality in their work ... read more

Geordie Greep - The New Sound

I really enjoyed this, more than anything I've heard from black midi. Very very unique and foreword thinking sound which modern rock music needs more of. The Magician is incredible and is definitely the standout song of the album.

Leonard Cohen - Songs of Leonard Cohen
97

Some of the best songwriting of all time. Lines from this album get stuck in my head throughout the day and the sound is wonderful. Perfect autumn album. My favorite song from this album is probably The Stranger Song, but every song is great. Suzanne perfectly captures the feeling of love in a song, and I love the Jesus was a sailor portion of the song as well. All around great album with amazing lyricism. Keeps growing on me with every listen.

Angels of Light - How I Loved You
94

Immensely powerful album which is on par with or superior to many Swans albums. I grow to like and resonate with this album more and more over time. Every song is great, but I think it's a real shame Two Women isn't commonly recognized alongside many of the greatest Swan's songs like Helpless Child or The Glowing Man.

Natural Snow Buildings - Sung to the North
99

this one is insanely underrated. I was honestly more impressed by this than The Winter Ray, and that was with multiple interruptions during my listening experience. I feel that it's going to grow the more I listen to it. The first song is one of the most beautiful things I've heard. I need to move North to make my NSB listening experiences more immersive...

Natural Snow Buildings - The Ladder

Good to listen to while reading Blood Meridian. The Western feel is incredible and I love the album cover.

Natural Snow Buildings - Two Sides of a Horse
90

Very gothic, but in the traditional, vampires roaming the dark streets of London kind of way. Especially on The Dissociation of Sir William Gull, which was my favorite song on the album. I think Natural Snow Buildings greatest strength is how it immerses me in an atmosphere and puts images in my head in a way that is very hard to describe. It makes me think a lot and come up with my own story and such. Even on their earliest album, this strength is very much present, and I loved the different ... read more

Swans - The Beggar

(i apologize for the very long disorganized review)
I loved this, like alot. to me this easily competes with the trilogy. It's different, its slower, but it's beautiful. Michaels vocals here are at their best since soundtracks/swans are dead, and the vocals are what drew me into swans in the first place, before I cared for the instrumental beauty that swans is more known for, so its exciting to see the vocals close to being on par with his 90s work, though obviously not as good as on Animus or ... read more

Enjoy - Exploited

make a dent in the city got my hopes very high for this album and none of the rest of it lived up to that. still enjoyable but not nearly as good as i expected it to be unfortunately

Swans - Soundtracks for the Blind

rereviewing because my old review wasn't good enough

first listen made me feel some sort of way id never felt before. the best experience ive ever had listening to music was when i listened to helpless child on my first time listening to the album. it was otherworldly. i really connect to helpless child like no other song and no other song has ever had the same emotional impact on me. animus is michaels best vocal performances ive heard on any of his work and it reminds me alot of snow. i ... read more

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King

i used to not be able to get into this because i thought I Talk to the Wind was boring but i always really liked 21st Century Schizoid Man. the other day i had the revelation that im a bit of a dumbass and i should probably not write off the album because the second song doesnt immediately hit the same as the first song. i talk to the wind is a really good song after all, and all of the other songs are amazing too. ive been listening almost nonstop for the past few days. Moonchild is underrated ... read more

Can - Tago Mago

this is crazy good. i love the concept and experimentation and about everything about how it sounds. i listened to it after a day with a migraine though so that made Aumgn and Peking O a little less enjoyable for me so im gonna give it a relisten in a better state soon. definitely going to check out more CAN and Krautrock in general

Simon Finn - Pass the Distance
97

Jerusalem is one of the songs ever. really really good album, need more freak folk stuff because this and comus aren't enough. i feel like this is going to keep growing on me

This Heat - Deceit
89

incredibly unique album that evokes a great apocalyptic atmosphere. makeshift swahili is a 10/10 and i wish there was more out there that sounded like it. Very impressive to be able to make a 2 minute kazoo solo work

Enjoy - Sessions With a Nasty Old Tree
88

i wish i had a nasty old tree :(

very relaxing album and its biggest issue is Genetic Tree. really did not like that one, don't think the rapping worked. other than that this was a very fun album and worth listening to

Swans - Los Angeles: City of Death
98

sounds like something off The Great Annihilator, which I love. I believe I like this more than Paradise is Mine. expecting a really good album based on these 2 singles

Comus - First Utterance
96

what is blud uttering about 😢😢

this is beautiful. the herald is breathtakingly pretty and drip drip is awesome (and certainly my favorite on the album). it sounds timeless and has a wonderfully unique sound. fantastic album.
