Genuinely really underwhelmed & very disappointed with this song. This literally sounded like an ILDMLFY type beat & it's getting tiring to hear the same thing over & over. I was hoping that this album would be very unapologetic & it would be Peggy's craziest project but after this song idk i'm just left very underwhelmed.
My friend teggups released his debut album under Earbone Records (which is a label u should tap into btw). Since this project was announced it was one of my most anticipated releases of the year & it didn't disappoint. While i do have some issues i mostly enjoyed the album thoroughly from the deep ambient layers of each song & Bloodshed is a song that just left me amazed with how it progressed. No bad song on here but the creation i felt was a bit filler but thats like the only ... read more
I have been meaning to listen to this album since at least 2022, so much people have told me. Recently someone finally convinced me to listen and I'm so thankful he convinced me because oh man I love this. Every song has felt like a journey & it has an arc too it, it's keeping me so invested especially with the production with the guitars & drums sounding so expressive. The vocals are so incredible they make me drool, there is so much amazing vocal performances throughout the ... read more
A friend recommended this to me and I am so upset I didn't listen to this earlier because this blew me away. I was put off by the bcnr comparisons but now actually listening to it I can hear similarities but it sounds like it's own thing. The lyrics & vocals are so delicate and gorgeous and so clear but the instrumentals are ridiculously beautiful, lot of guitar & saxophone and it sounds so luscious.
P.S. my 1200th review! Definitely feels strange as I've been here for ... read more
Gabs7 keeps recommending me so much amazing music but this might be my favourite they recommended me. This is pure chaos & insanity and I love it, it feels like a huge adrenaline rush & it never slows down at any point and I love it. The drums are so loud synths blaring etc. it just constantly keeps me engaged the whole time I listen
My good friend Dakota convinced me to listen to this and wow I am genuinely amazed. Lately things have been stressful in my life so I've been gravitating to a lot of softer music over the past few months and this is right up my alley. The vocals sound so beautiful and gorgeous and throughout every song it's almost meditative. The instrumentals with these drums, guitars, flutes, strings make this album feel so wondrous and calming. I am absolutely loving the project and am so glad I ... read more
3 new songs from Peggy & Danny & unfortunately it's quite underwhelming. Manic is very laidback & is easily the best song from these new songs, accompanied by a very laidback instrumental it reminds me of LP. The next 2 songs sound like demos from others in the album & that's the biggest issue, they didn't feel like they added anything to the world of STH. Overall I leave very disappointed
THANK YOU GABS FOR THE RECOMMENDATION, UR THE BEST
Now to be honest I am not fully familiar with Yeules material, I have only heard Evangelic Girl Is A Gun which imo is one of the more underrated releases this year. Softscars while not as accessible is still really good with its blends of alternative rock & dreamy production, yeule sounds really wonderful on this as well as their voice just glides across these mesmerising instrumentals. Now while I do really like this project, a couple ... read more
Maruja have been a band Ive known about for like a year at this point and seeing they're continuous rise makes me happy especially seeing them working with Quadeca. In preparation for their debut album I listened to all the EPS & wow can I just say this album is incredible, not a single bad song on here & this is one of the most electrifying albums of the year. The vocals, production etc. it's just so raw, intense, political but utterly incredible I can't help but be ... read more
Westside Gunn's third project this year (I think) & a sequel to the HEELS HAVE EYES ep. As I am writing this I'm still not fully done with it (hence no score right now) but I am starting to get fatigue from Gunn, I feel like most of these songs Ive heard before it just is so samey. ATYPFM was probably the last Gunn project I loved because of how he was experimenting with trap & I would've loved to see him go more down there. Look this is very inoffensive, if you are a fan ... read more
Earls first solo album since 2022's SICK! sees Thebe exploring themes of adulthood & fatherhood, personally this is my favourite project of his since SRS, the instrumentals are glitched & pushed even further, I love seeing Earl use familiar sounds in new ways.
Biggest complaint though is no song lasts long enough for me to fully love & listen to.
Overall though, this is a return to form for Earl but also sees him pushing boundaries
The reason the first Alfredo worked so well in my opinion was the fact it was short, concise, & cinematic & while I do hear the cinematic elements in this album, I just don't think it was executed the best, I feel like there was so much more they could do instrumentally or lyrically on certain songs. I also felt like there was more filler & boring moments on the project. I also think another reason I don't enjoy this as much as the first Alfredo is the fact I think ... read more
First of all, why tf did they choose to use AI for the visuals, they don't even look good in the slightest & I think this affects both artists careers pretty severely, I think Al is inconsistent but Erykah is an artist I really like, maybe not as much as other people but I still really love her music.
Now onto the actual song, this is genuinely one of the weakest songs I've heard all year, The Alchemist provides the most average production on the two beats, & Erykah just ... read more
