It really is intriguing but outside of the curiosity that it sparks, I can't see myself liking it🤷‍♂️ Concept and lyrics wise its great and very well understood by the music video, but without the mv it loses a lot of spark honestly

First time listening to Erykah Badu and decided to take the other route by listening to her newest album. Good listen with its very highs and also lows. Lows that are not bad but rather just sort of plateau.

It felt like a satisfactory listen. Now granted, this is a genre that I have never listened to before so therefore i didn't feel as open or attracted towards it. It feels to me that it is not bad, but that I could hear this sound from many bands. The songs towards the end were getting better, but I think that it due to me understanding and getting accustomed. So ill have to give the first songs another listen but overall, very very ok.

Chef's Kisses, honestly had heard of him before and never saw something that attracted me but this song, that was it. So well constructed and makes me look forward to see what his next album will bring.

Strayed away by the lyrics at first but its too catchy for that to be my excuse

I love this song, like the only thing thats given to you is love and freedom, what more can one ask for? It also feels awfully familiar like if it was from Sometimes I Might Be Introvert but the lyrics are in another level because it is concise, direct and with a strong message that specially in current times we need to let go and be able to be free physically and mentally. Honestly I feel privileged that we will get an album with this much potential in less than 2 months.

I have always liked Jazz, Bossa Nova and Italian Cinema so when coming to this album it felt fresh and like the perfect combination! The album starts super strong with my favorite two songs from the album. Experience wise it plateaus at some points but doesn't discredit that the lyrics are great. At the end it is an album that feels very fitting to work whether you are in love or recovering.

Maybe I chose the wrong song to introduce myself to her music....

Man all of the songs sound like Jorge Ben had pure joy when recording this album.

It was a fun experience which all of the songs bring a groove even if we are just talking about penalties! The self-titled song is probably one of the most cheerful songs I have heard of for sure. I think my only issue with this album is that due to the variety of themes in the songs, some of them start great and fall into this repetitive sequence and loses my focus. Man what a vibe for such a short time it has. Also very direct messages that outside of the message bring a groove and can't help to move the shoulders a little bit you know. Mister Follow Follow does get into little slumps of repetitiveness but still great. Context wise and musical wise, very very good! Everything that you can ask for in an Afrobeat is beautifully done here.

Not feeling Flood as much as I thought of right now but that can be due to not having context on the album itself. But good to note that the mixing and inclusion of Obongjayar and Moonchild Sanelly added so much action to the song that it really makes me wonder what path Simz will take.

Either way Simz is great at this and the song might become better as we see it joined with the other tracks of the album.

Yeah I couldn't quite click fully with the vocals and it was the turn off for me. Normally i'm used to a vocal modulation like Autotune or like Daft Punk rather than modifying to make a completely new voice. The instrumental songs nearby the end are ok tho.

Yeah idk why I rated this a 65 before, this is a banger! Marcos Valle is truly 1 of 1 and even for a debut album, it is very well constructed and serves some very pretty songs. It is a good album for me to calm down or focus on something
