This is a really sweet album. Simplistic, yet thorough, Tracy Chapman introduces us into a world of her own feelings, emotions, and strife. The vulnerability exposed within this album is very rare, as well as the willingness to accept simplicity. Tracy doesn't introduce production styles that take away from her writing - her story is the main idea and she stands firm in that. In terms of thematics, there are some similarities on the backside, but Tracy does a great job of deriving lyrics ... read more
Hahahahah you can hide all you want Billy, but you made mediocre music and we all found out!
No but seriously, I don't think this is as bad as it gets labelled. Is it technically basic? Definitely Not! Can you recognize what the artist is trying to portray thematically or lyrically? Definitely not! Is there any structure within this? Not really!

On top of that, a lot of the vocals are off key for such a long duration that you can't convince me that it's reasonable. IDK, it kind of feels like they didn't really try that hard, and the lyrics are just nonsense
I'm kind of confused. For the last, idk 25 years music criticism has been at an all time high surrounding the punk scene. Artists from the 90's, 2000's and 2010's put out album after album of punk rock, with a majority of music listeners saying BLEHHH ITS WANEY AND GROSS I DONT LIKE IT. And now, when new groups decide that distortion and experimentalism should be on display, critics say WOW I'VE NEVER SEEN THIS BEFORE SO REVOLUTIONARY.
So what has changed from bands ... read more
