Someone has to do a deep dive into the overuse of the word “fuck” in music. I don’t know why, but it seems to have become kind of a filler word at times. I think the album is pretty top heavy in terms of the best tracks, with a pretty clear best three track run from free.99, breathe, and I saw your face. I think theres a lot of good in here, but maybe too much of the same, making it less enjoyable as an album. X’s and O’s has a great chorus, but I find myself ... read more
Really great and atmospheric experience. Super easy and compelling story to follow. Some of the best in the last decade. Songs 93, album 95
Crazy to say 3 of her top 5 are on this album? 3 of the top 7 fs and maybe 4 of her top 10. There’s a lot to like on this album, and a lot less to dislike. Also I guess this album was my first pinkpantheress experience when it dropped so shout out (even tho it’s on one of my least favorite tracks). I think this album captures everything that she was working through in her past albums and eps. Still some lyrics that I think could’ve used a bit of workshopping, but that could ... read more
- [ ] Holy peak (for Beabadoobee). This ep is fun, it hits hard when it needs to hit hard, cologne is top 3 in her discography, yea the shoo ba doos in last day on earth are dumb but I can get over it. First (memorable at least) Beabadoobee string arrangements. Now I may consider this Beabadoobee peak because it’s not an album and therefore does not have the same opportunity to suffer from the filler problem. For these reasons, I also find it hard to justify an album rating for things ... read more
This album leans more into the rock persona than the last ep did. It starts out super hot with care and worth it, two of my favorite of her songs. There are some bizarre moments on this one, like emo song having a trap hi-hat on it and yoshimi, forest, Magdalene as a whole. Together another big banger. I think this album just has some slow parts, the highs are high and the lows are just meh, unfortunately, there’s a little bit of meh in here. Songs 81, album 77.
