TBH this was a very overplayed album in high school. I had a lot of friends that would play songs off this during smoke sessions and it hit then. Now, I think it hits based off nostalgia more than anything but I can't bring myself to give lower than a 75.
Lost you in the fire is good. Honestly isn't that bad but is that brand of white sometimes sadboy rap.
I listened to this again (obviously) and it still isn't clicking. Idk why its got a 81 but I am glad that those who love this project do. Maybe one day it will click for me.
Just solid music. There isnt anything to really ride home about or shit on. You Only Live Once is a fantastic opener but is also the highlight so take that how you want.
Reptilia is timeless. The rest of the album is also very solid but hasn't aged as well as Reptilia
Edit: 81 -> 77
Waited a good while for this and even coming back to it was pleasant. Slowdive just have that juice
Edit: 82 -> 85
Snoozefest, I love Thugger but this isn't him anywhere near his best.
What is there to say about this that hasnt already been said a thousand times. It is a classic and a benchmark for this genre. When the sun hits, it punches you in the throat.
Dagger and Machine Gun are maybe my favorite two here but there isn't anything REMOLTELY close to a skip. When this comes on I sit my white ass down and listen.
Classic review (Its a classic for me + I'm off the henny rn)
This album was FUNDAMENTAL for me in middle and high school. "why you so depressed and sad all the time like a little bitch?" was my motto during a time I went through a very tough period in my life. Earl is and has been for a long time one of my favorite rappers and this was my beginning.
I really enjoyed the Rico feature, she killed that shit. Overall this album is very fun which tends to be the floor for a Q album.
If all country was like this I wouldn't shit on the genre so much. I hate to sound basic but THIS is country music.
