The Beach Boys - Sunflower
90

Hey everyone, I'm back from a few months of intense studying and I might actually pass this year. Now that I have time left to write reviews again, I'll start with The Beach Boys their stunningly beautiful album 'Sunflower'.

The album starts with a psychedelic edge to the music with the song Slip On Through. As expected it includes the amazing vocals that I enjoy in (most) of their music. Then when the next song played I got absolutely appalled by its beauty. It is a pity ... read more

Re-visiting my old reviews:

Previous and current rating are the same: 100

'For you've touched her perfect body with your mind' 'I'm standing on a ledge and your fine spider web Is fastening my ankle to a stone' 'Your hair upon the pillow like a sleepy golden storm' 'I lit a thin green candle to make you jealous of me but the room just filled up with mosquitoes'

These quotes here express only a tiny bit of the poetic beauty of this album and I ... read more

The Kinks - The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society

Exceptionally great psychedelic folk, rock and pop masterpiece. This is one of those LP's where every time you listen to it that you discover something you haven't heard before.

The album is calm and experimental. Not as harshly experimental as other well known artists and bands at the time like The Beatles and Pink Floyd. Every track has a different sound, the title track is a unique but still calm and fun song with almost humorous lyrics. The album reaches into the dark with a few ... read more

Fleetwood Mac - Then Play On
70

A great album, but does disappoint unfortunately. Perhaps the best early fm album with the blues rock sound, and lets not forget the gorgeous album art.

The LP starts with a unique blues song with that psychedelic edge. Coming Your Way is addictive and fun to listen to with great lyrics and instrumentation which makes me want to listen more of the early fm albums. But, this song is not perfect of course and could've been better. Coming Your Way is the best song on the LP, which says a lot ... read more

Bob Dylan - Desire

Great cover, great album, perfect lyrics, great instrumentation. In other words, the usual Bob Dylan album.

The storytelling in this album reaches above and beyond what most writers are even capable of doing. The overall instrumentation is perfect too with the percussion, bass and background singer Emmylou Harris adding to the sound of Desire.

The first track Hurricane is a bit fast paced and more brutal than the rest of the album, but it doesn't disappoint at all. Jacques Levy was ... read more

Re visiting older reviews

Previous rating: 78
Current rating: 85

Fleetwood Mac their album Tusk is the aftermath of Rumours. Causing it to be strange, a little angry and experimental.

Even with its length, Tusk is definitely worth listening to, I found overall to be better than their 2nd self titled album Fleetwood Mac. Some might say that the overall quality of the album dissapoints but I think it adds to the charm of the album. Another key detail is that the album seems to take inspiration ... read more

Re-visiting older reviews:

Previous rating: 95
Current rating: 90

This album will go on 2 of my lists, the one where I revisit my older reviews and the other about which albums impacted my music taste the most. Abbey Road was one of the first classics that brought me into old music and changed my complete music taste for the better. There's not much to say about the close to perfection of quality of this album because of how much reviews this album already has, so I'm just gonna ... read more

Bob Dylan - Blonde on Blonde
90

I've heard a few Bob albums before but this is with certainty the most special one of them.

The albums I've listened to before are: Freewheelin', Highway 61 and Blood On The Tracks. This album starts with some not very good tracks in my opinion. But then everything after Pledging My Time is just banger after banger. I felt entranced when listening to the most of this album but every now and then there's a bad track to be found like with almost every Bob album (except Blood ... read more

The Byrds - Fifth Dimension
89

Fifth Dimension by The Byrds is a fun little 60s album. it's slightly experimental but it isn't the best in their discography. To be honest I was slightly disappointed when first listening to this, the album is still great though. I guess I just expected too much from it.

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here 50
85

I don't have any words for the album itself, it's bonus content or the live performances. It's all remastered/mixed beautifully with perfection and an extreme precision to detail. Wish You Were Here 50th Anniversary is worth all your precious time and is probably the best reissue of this year.

Queen - A Night at the Opera
73

Even though I do like this album a lot, I can't give it any higher than a 73 due to it feeling more like a compilation or a mixtape than an album. An album doesn't need to be cohesive to make it excellent but this is an exception. I still think that Queen is probably one of the most overrated bands of all time, this album is their best featuring their best songs but I'm quickly running out of other examples even though I've listened to most of their discography already.

Pink Floyd - Meddle
87

Pink Floyd is definitely the best prog rock band together with King Crimson and how I love this album and it's live performace at Pompeii. Every track is a banger and Echoes is obviously the best one, even while it's 24 minutes long, it's worth your time every millisecond because of how well thought of and interesting it is.

The Beatles - Magical Mystery Tour
90

Most of the songs on this album are part of my favorites, I do think that side b of this album should've been a seperate EP due to it making the album lose it's concept. Not that side B is bad, it's everything but bad (except for baby you're a rich man)

The Beatles - Anthology 4
60

'John's mic sounds like shit!'

I don't even want to spend too much time reviewing this compilation, its just bad. They didn't make the best choices and didn't release takes of tracks we never really got to listen to before (release carnaval of light!!!). It is true that The Beatles didn't record an infinite amount of takes but they could've atleast made a better selection.

This anthology is a mess and ruined the idea of the anthology project. Yeah I ... read more

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass
100

I cried the first time I listened to All Things Must Pass completely.

This album is definitely one of the best of all time and would sit perfectly in a top 50 best of all time. The album starts off with a gentle tone but quickly gets louder with tracks like My Sweet Lord and Wah-Wah, but it all fits together well with it having the same lush but loud and dirty production throughout the whole album.

Disc 2 is my favorite half of the album with my favorite tracks being on that one. I'm ... read more

Suicide - Suicide

This album strangely frightens me, but it's beautifully experimental and wayyyyy ahead of its time.

John Lennon - Gimme Some Truth: The Ultimate Mixes (Deluxe Edition)
90

Probably the best John compilation to this day with great sounding mixes. It has some of his well known singles but strangely doesn't include the song 'Mother'??

Pink Floyd - The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
90

Amazing album, definitely has some of my favorite Pink Floyd tracks, its a bummer that syd 'left' the group so early

Tom Tom Club - Tom Tom Club

very great album but has some bad songs
