The Prodigy - Their Law: The Singles 1990-2005
79

The singles are quite good, I don't think a single track that I really liked from the first few albums was missed. Everybody in the Place and Charly from Experience is a bit better but it's all around a really decent best of/singles album. The second disc in the limited edition CD set is more interesting though.

Razor is cool, bit between "why wasn't this on an album" and "its alright". Same with Back 2 Skool, also pretty decent and happy to hear them but ... read more

The Prodigy - No Tourists

My least favourite out of all of their albums, I know it's easier to hate or like stuff that is newer but I'm pretty sure I got Jilted Generation after this one, it feels like a collection of songs that mostly aren't for me and is far too short at 38 mins long when most of theirs have been in the 50s with the exception of Jilted having The Narcotic Suite and IMD being 46 mins long.

Need Some1 is one of those songs that I think I would have absolutely hated a few years ago, I ... read more

The Prodigy - The Day Is My Enemy

Not their strongest album but it's pretty decent. Title track is pretty cool, not as cool as IMD starting out the last album. Nasty goes on for a bit longer than I would like and Rebel Radio is alright, just nothing that impresses me a whole lot. Ibiza is one that I randomly put on sometimes, no clue why, just sometimes gets in my head even though I think it should probably be on the same level as the last two. Destroy mostly feels like a nothingburger track right up until the last 40 ... read more

The Prodigy - Invaders Must Die

Probably my favourite The Prodigy album, easily the most sentimental. My 6th birthday was in the same month this got released and I will never not forget running around a bouncy castle with World's On Fire playing before the party started. The title track is sooo good, straight slaps and is a crazy opener that sets the whole album up. Omen is also so good, love it so much to the point there isn't much to say about it other than it puts a smile on my face. Thunder is so good, vocals ... read more

The Prodigy - Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned

It's alright, not their best but it's not bad. It's a different vibe. I don't know how to feel about spitfire, I like it but also it sounds like a mix between the ocean and mushroom biome music from Terraria with the "I'mma put my cat on the mic" video. Still pretty cool nonetheless, I just wouldn't put it on a playlist or around others. Girls is pretty good, doesn't blow my socks off but the ending is cool. Memphis Bells is alright but does not grip ... read more

The Prodigy - The Fat of the Land

Despite for some reason them dropping the "The" in their name for this album this is THE Prodigy album, there are so many great tracks in it and the album art is probably their most iconic. There is nothing to say about Smack My Bitch Up as it's just banging like what a cool start to the album. Breathe straight after too, insane tracks. Diesel Power is great too, perfect length for what it is. I think unlike the first two albums it's quite nice to have the first three be ... read more

The Prodigy - Music for the Jilted Generation

Really cool album, I like the vibe of Intro, it works really well when they play it live like as Glastonbury as an intermission between tracks. Break and Enter I would probably never listen to on my own and it's at a decent length but you can't hate it because it's such a vibe. The same feeling that I have for the boing effect in Out of Space, somehow the plates crashing noise just works in the track.
Their Law fuckss like no wonder they named the compilation album after it. ... read more

The Prodigy - Experience
81

Probably not one that I'd always but on but it is quite great for a first album. Jericho slaps and I think Music Reach is cool but it does drag for a bit which feels like a theme with a lot of these tracks, I'm not mad about the length of them it's just they get to the point of repeating early on. If they had more oomph they could easily be 9 or 10s instead of 8s. Your Love (Remix) is what i'm on about with that because it just feels like the sections in it are distinct ... read more

King Crimson - In the Wake of Poseidon

Pictures of a City slaps, the original 'A Man, A City' was my favourite bonus track from the expanded ITCotCK. The instrumental break slaps although it is a bit 21st Century Schizoid to its discredit. I can't believe Ice Spice would get her name from the second verse of this song. Cadence and Cascade is very beautiful, nothing much to say about it other than its very " : ) "

In the Wake of Poseidon makes a grand entrance and it fulfils, Greg Lake's vocals go so ... read more

It really makes you feel something. Singing Winds, Crying Beasts is really nice like you really do not need vocals to make a great impression. Black Magic Woman / Gypsy Queen slaps, instrumentally it's so good and I looveee those vocals. Oye Como Va is great. I don't know how to feel about Incident at Neshabur like I get that instrumentally it's quite great but I don't entirely like the vibe. Se a Cabo 🗣️ Se a Cabo 🗣️ those drums...
Mother's Daughter slaps ... read more

Yes - Close to the Edge
96

Despite only buying this album somewhat recently it's become one of my favourite prog albums.

Close to the Edge is such an insane track I. The Solid Time of Change is a crazy opener like that guitar makes me drool II. Total Mass Retain fuckssss like that faster vocal bit is soooo good III. I Get Up, I Get Down is probably the bit I get stressed out the most when making other people listen because it's slower but that organ oh my goddddd straight chills. The transition into IV. ... read more

Green Day - Dookie

Utterly boring, to me it's nothing. I do quite appreciate the extremely smooth transitions between each track. I like some of the instrumental on Welcome to Paradise but overall I hate the vocalist as he whines at points. Maybe I just despise Americans. I don't know if I am okay with Basket Case because I heard it before or if it's actually quite alright, I think any goodwill it earned is lost from the track before being so forgettable.

Everything just sounds the same and I am ... read more

Muse - Will of the People

I can't lie I got really into Muse but this girl I was talking to said she didn't like it so I just never bought the album, listened to all the others again and again but never this one. Then my dad bought it. The first listen I felt so sad because I did try to like it but it felt so disappointing and it wasn't even my money that paid for it.

The title track I just don't like at all the background vocals annoy me and it's not mixed well enough to make out the vocals ... read more

King Crimson - In the Court of the Crimson King
97

One of the albums of all time, it's one of those prog rock albums where it's really hard to not add every track on your playlist because they are all so perfect. It's also really hard to describe my feelings about it without repeating the same words or phrases as it's just that good, there is never not a smile on my face listening to it.

21st Century is peak throughout, it really doesn't feel like 7 and a half mins it's just that good. I Talk to the Wind is soooo ... read more

Lady Gaga - MAYHEM
86

My album of the year, gutted I didn't buy it when it came out because I robbed myself of experiencing it for months.

Disease fucks, I think it's really good and then it just gets to the point to where it's so peak like one of those tracks that you love on full volume. Abracadabra I do quite like but initially wasn't really a huge fan of because of the intro and the chorus when I first heard bits of it, it's soo good though when you actually listen to it. Does not stop ... read more

ABC - The Lexicon of Love
87

I love this album, it was one of the first or the first album i had on repeat when going through my parents CDs so it means a lot to me. Not picked randomly but picked because it slaps. I love Show Me as a starting track and Poison Arrow SLAPSSS like it feels so good having those two tracks together like "you thought the opening was good, fuck you!! have another one". Many Happy Returns is nice and usually I'm not a huge fan of very obvious bits between tracks but I don't ... read more

Shinedown - The Sound of Madness
52

This was my first experience of Shinedown as last year my dad told me to listen to it and I HATED IT. One of the only times I have actively disliked listening to an album from the family CD collection. The first impression I got of it was they sound too American and sounded shit.

Devour is alright (for s Shinedown song) but Sound of Madness is exactly what I mean by they sound too American, I am disgusted by those kinds of vocals I just really hate that song and think it sucks. Second Chance ... read more

Shinedown - Us and Them

The Dream is a cool opener but it could have transitioned into the first real track a bit better. I feel like I am repeating myself from the last album because, again, a couple of the first tracks are good and sort of memorable like if the entire album was more of the first four tracks it might be a bit better, but their problem is also everything sounds the same.

Lady So Divine has some good guitar in it and some of the chords remind me of one a song from the Rimworld soundtrack, it's an ... read more

Shinedown - Leave a Whisper
66

I went in thinking I wouldn't like it at all because I have listened to one of their albums before and it was one of the only times I have actively disliked a whole album/band but this has sort of suprised me by having a few good songs and everything else being just alright. Most of it may be forgettable but that's a positive compared to hate.

The first track starts off strong and I also liked Better Version and Lost in the Crowd from the first half but at the point of In Memory and ... read more

Electric Light Orchestra - On the Third Day

Going through all the ELO albums we have before I see them for their final performance on Sunday. Quite a nice album, I like the 2 parters are quite nice. Showdown is a great song and Daybreaker sounds quite cool. Ma-Ma-Ma Belle is on my playlist and I feel it's on there because the 2006 remaster includes bonus tracks and 2 of them are different versions of the song, I do like it but I do feel like the only reason its on there is because the first time I listened to this album I was ... read more
