I am very pleasantly surprised by this album, I don't know why I went in thinking that it wouldn't be that good but It feels like the type of thing I can get to really love over a few more listens. I really love AKA... What a Life! and The Death of You and Me. The whole album hits a certain feeling and each track is distinct enough to round it out. Happily adding this to the pile of albums to go through again several more times.
A very fun album, Gwen Stefani's vocals are so good on all of the tracks but Don't Speak is such a highlight. I didn't even know who made the song before I got to that track.
Some of the tracks don't hold up quite as well as others, they aren't bad but when you have Don't Speak or Tragic Kingdom alongside them you wish that all of them were on that level but it's not like that's a dealbreaker or anything.
It's okay, I don't hate it. But I also I'm not really amazed by it. In terms of listening it came and went, it has no staying power in m head. The tracks aren't bad, some are even good but they are also not that memorable. Again, I don't know if I am burned out from listening to NIN or it's just one of those albums that needs several listens to "truly understand" but they have had other albums that I feel would work better with several listens that ... read more
Another one I am torn about, there are a couple tracks that I can pinpoint but they are both of the bookending tracks. I really like how All The Love In The World manages to be sorrow but transitioning to a more uplifting beat towards the end. I especially love Right Where it Belongs, it's a very beautiful track and I think I like the V.2 version from the UK Bonus Track edition a bit more than the original.
However the album as a whole, I don't know if it's because I am getting a ... read more
I don't know how to feel about it because on one hand from the first listen I do like it more than The Downward Spiral but it also doesn't evoke a feeling out of me as strongly compared to the previous NIN albums.
The album felt like a mix between TDS and The Wall but doesn't quite hit any emotional feeling like those two albums did. Don't get me wrong, I still like it and think it's a good album and I will listen to it again sometime but it's not perfect and I ... read more
Phenomenal soundtrack, a key part in what makes Battlefield 1 click so hard. It accomplishes making you feel the right emotions so well from being in tears in the campaign to the pride in your victory in operations online.
Very pleasant album. The similarity between a few of the tracks is both is strength and a weakness, tracks like Favourite Shirts, Love Plus One and Fantastic Day are bangers, very memorable and guaranteed spots on anyone's playlist, but the rest of the album is quire sameish reusing chords from other songs and not trying much to differentiate themselves. Lucky for the album it works perfectly in its favour as something uplifting and pleasant to have on in the background.
Listed as a remix album but it feels more of a reimagining, much prefer it over The Downward Spiral. It doesn't quite hit the same itch however, the original feels much more deliberate in how tracks are orchestrated. Further down is much more palatable for those who are put off by the originals sound but still appreciate the album and it's songs.
Maybe it's just not for me, I do get the vision the album is going for but it's just too much and not for me. I don't hate any of the tracks, a few of them I dislike more than others but in general the whole album is just 'This is a good song for what it's trying to go for, but not something I'd listen to again' for every track. Nearly every track has this one bit where you are won over but it ultimately fails to grip me. I like Mr Self Destruct, even if this ... read more
Good album, all the tracks are good but Head Like a Hole is a hell of an opener. Terrible Lie and That's What I Get are also bangers.
I don't actively dislike much, I don't think this is close to actively disliking but it's close with some of the songs. The whole album felt boring, sameish and uninspired. I didn't hate This Means War, Midnight Queen, Lullaby and Holding On to Heaven but in no way does that mean they are memorable at all. This Means War is probably the only memorable track in the album and it starting with that gets your hopes up until you are ultimately reminded of why people dislike ... read more
I thought I would really like listening to other New Order songs but the majority of this compilation are forgettable tracks that don't come close to their best like True Faith and Blue Monday. I don't hate any of the songs, I just think that there are only a few that stand out. Will relisten someday.
I think the main track is quite good but I'm not a huge fan of the dance mix and the instrumental on it's own is lacking.
