The Wall is more of an art piece than an album, I do think it's length is a blessing and a curse because it really lets all acts of the story play out without feeling rushed but at 1 hour and 21 mins it's more of a committal and the fascist part at the end means it doesn't feel very appropriate to just slap on at any point. Listening to it is more akin to putting on your favourite movie in the background than playing an album because it's a performance first and an album ... read more
"underrated tbh🗿" Animals is probably my favourite album, I do think that it isn't as perfect as Wish You Were Here or The Dark Side of the Moon but it is my favourite. I may be a cat person but Dogs has been my #1 track for a long time, it's a phenomenal song everything about it is peak just straight up a banger. The guitar at the end of Pigs slaps so hard, insane. The piano in Sheep is incredible. I love all 3 main tracks so much. I don't think it's fair to ... read more
I don't know how they do it. It's an extremely beautiful album and a beautiful tribute to Syd. At 5 tracks long there really isn't any song doesn't stand out. Shine On You Crazy Diamond is easily the best pair of bookending tracks and are phenomenal tracks, parts 1-5 gets played on it's own more often but 6-9 is criminally underrated. Welcome to the Machine is just great, Have a Cigar too. Wish You Were Here is such a beautiful song, like truly truly beautiful like ... read more
The Dark Side of The Moon is easily one of the greatest albums ever created, it was the album that originally got me more into music years ago when I saw a Pink Floyd tribute band and one of the albums that makes me extremely thankful that I now have some good headphones. It's an absolutely breath-taking perfect album. We (the British) may have done some messed up things but we nailed it when we invented Prog Rock.
There isn't a single track that is anywhere close to being average, ... read more
I need to start off by stating that the first track, Atom Heart Mother Suite, is a wonderfully amazing song, I truly can't put into words how great this epic of a track. It is absolutely phenomenal and each bit of its 23 mins and 42 seconds of length is so good, it makes me so glad that I decided to get better headphones to fully experience this song as it is just one of those tracks that you can realllly soak in. Truly one of the best tracks of all time.
The rest of the albums is also ... read more
I've forgotten everything (already). It's like fishing without a bite, the atmosphere is there but there is no action, nothing gripping you in. As background audio this would be perfectly fine but as with music in general there is better stuff out there for specific purposes/moods. I think I would probably prefer listening to this over some other albums I have rated higher just because I do like Phil's music but those albums felt like they were trying harder.
I don't think ... read more
Seriously alright, It's nothing to write home about and all of the tracks are decent but (seriously) they feel individually good and something that feel that tied to the album. If you told me this was a compilation of 12 of his tracks I would believe you... But seriously, if there is one thing that can be said about this album it's that it gave us Another Day in Paradise, easily one of his best songs and one of my favourites.
Quite decent, I do really like the instrumentals and if anything the vocals/lyrics are what fail to make the album truly great. On most of the songs nothing quite gripped me or made me go "eh" in the case of Blood of Eden where I do not really care for "The union of the woman and the man" and Kiss That Frog wasn't very pleasant. I do like the instrumentals of Love to Be Loved, Steam, Only Us and Fourteen Black Paintings but although individually they did make my ears ... read more
It's good, a decent compilation album. First few tracks I quite liked, the ones I wasn't too fond of initially I came around on. I do think this shows the variety and range that Peter Gabriel is able to create wonderfully, the tracks never felt similar and 16 tracks is quite modest for a compilation and it didn't overstay its welcome.
It's hard because I do think it's a good Greatest Hits album, you can't have a bad one if your music is decent and you make it 2 hours long with no repeats. But I also didn't really care for the tracks on the second half, I don't know if the albums they came from aren't my thing or what but I didn't enjoy them nowhere near as much as the first half. Although I do have to say that I dislike the version of Even Flow on this compared to the Ten version, there is ... read more
A good album, I think the only thing holding it back for me is I couldn't tell what track is which after a while, not saying that it's massively same-ish it's just 4-10 didn't stick out as much to me. Still good tracks. Even Flow is a banger and an easy add to anyone's playlist after listening to this album.
Slave/Master is a good hidden track at the end of Release
Decent album, for some reason the Daily Mail promo CD version includes the 12" "Scratch Mix" version of Come Back and Stay as I was initially confused as to why the song sounded so familiar but different. Not a huge fan of the cover of Love Will Tear Us Apart, with covers they generally have to either completely flip the song or sound as good / better than the original and this one just doesn't do that. Love of the Common People however, that's a good cover and ... read more
It's Alright (Now), not really my thing but it's one of those albums where I'm not mad I am listening to it like I'm not going "I could be listening to something better" the entire time. The bonus tracks are a neat addition and made me realise where I recognise his voice from.
Really did not enjoy this at all, I disliked the general vibe and some of the songs like Gratitude just disgust me. Other tracks are just either alright but not gripping enough like House of Wax or just forgettable. I don't really like The Beatles and have never listened to any Paul McCartney before, I certainly don't intend to again after this.
It's alright I just did not really care for it. I don't know if it's just not my thing, if I wasn't in the mood for Blues Rock or if it was because it was very same-ish. It's alright to have on in the background but there is really better things to have on than this. I did enjoy How Long although I feel the lyrics "How long has this being going on for" represent how I felt about the album as a whole.
A decent funk Best Of album, but I think it just might not be for me. It's something where the vocals are too prominent to idly have it on in the background but too relaxed for a focused listen. Unfortunately unlike other Best Of/compilation albums in my library I haven't listened to any Parliament beforehand so I don't quite have any connection to ground me and use it as a way to explore the artists other tracks.
You can tell it has love and vibes but unfortunately it isn't ... read more
An incredibly fun album, there isn't a single bad song on it and you would be doing yourself a disservice by not having the bonus track version as This Is How It Goes Down and Boring are incredible additions to it. It's just banger after banger and it hold up, there is variety so it doesn't feel like you are being bombarded with same-ish pop songs.
I may not love the track Funhouse as much as I did when I was younger as the novelty of someone swearing in a song clearly wears off ... read more
Quite decent, definitely not as good as her next album Funhouse but you can tell she's moving in that direction from how 'Cuz I Can turned out. Who Knew is easily one of her best songs and the reason the album was an easy buy, there is certainly enough variety with all of the other tracks that anyone would certainly be happy with their purchase.
Not really something I would listen to but this is a decent compilation album, the recordings not being clean is the only thing I dislike about it as I find it a bit distracting when I am zoned out chilling with this on in the background for the crowd to start clapping. It's good Jazz, just if I wanted something on in the background I would probably find something newer.
A good best of album, even though I only knew about them from Enola Gay before the other synth pop tracks on the album are bops, there wasn't anything that I disliked and although I wasn't as hooked for all of them they are still good and an enjoyable listen and something that I will make sure to go through again sometime in the future. The 2002 CD release is preferable as the included 12" version of We Love You is a banger.
