Listening to every J Cole album FINALE
Wow it really lived up to the hype. I don't think it's really a hot take anymore to call this J Cole's best work, but I really do stand by it. Cole says so much more worthwhile stuff on this album than he has on any other project he's ever put out. A lot of very interesting stories told and actual personal close to heart performances. I think Cole just upgraded every trait he has in his rapping ability on this project. Whenever Cole ... read more
Listening to every J Cole album pt. 10
This is Coles biggest shitpost ever, this serves zero purpose. I really do get the argument that this is Cole trying to make a Drake album, and I agree for the most part. Especially songs like fever, which is deadass Coles worst work ever, there is nothing redeeming about that track. And that's not even mentioning 7 minute drill, which before listening to it i thought it was kind of embarrassing to release a diss track just to remove but after ... read more
Listening to every J cole album pt. 9
Was pleasantly surprised with this project, Cole takes a way more conscious hip hop direction on this and I think it fits him very well. He may not be trying much new with this work but I still enjoy it plenty. Also fucking finally there's a good feature on a J Cole song, i never thought i would see the day. 21 Savages verse is really good, and I'm not even the biggest 21 savage fan (although i definitely enjoy his features quite a lot) but this ... read more
While I do think Rocky played it a little too safe with this project, I still definitely think it has a couple of great songs. I wouldn't call it worth the wait tho, 8 years for an album that's just pretty good is kind of insane. I just don't think this album takes many risks, the only big exception i would say is punk rocky, a great track that is incredibly unique for Rocky, and for hip-hop as a whole. Overall it's decent, but it definitely could've been better.

Listening to every J Cole project Pt. 8
KOD by J. Cole is an album that addiction. For an album that has such a clear meaning I really would've liked it to be way more focused than it was, I feel like it was going in all sorts of pointless directions and it didn't really amount to anything. I do however like the turning point in the middle of the record. And I do think that Cole says some worthwhile stuff on this album, so in other words it succeeds at a lot of stuff outside of the ... read more
