I've been saving this rating for special occasions and what better occasion than reviewing Goon Girls.
Dem girls be goonin', what can I say. It's loud, abrasive, full of energy and first and foremost RAW.
Way more enjoyable than I originally gave it credit for. Honestly, I wasn't even going to listen to it, but the fact that it was rated so high convinced me to give it a shot.
It reminds me of Around the Fur era Deftones mixed with Alien Ant Farm, early 36 Crazyfists and a bit of the featured band on Nostalgia Kills, Underoath. This is my first Shinedown experience as a whole and, even if I might have heard 1 or 2 songs in passing I don't remember. I decided to give the new album a try since I kept hearing about the band online and was mildly curious how they sound, so here goes :

There're so many different riffs, transitions and sections thrown at the listener, it's absolutely insane. The problem with the album lies within this attitude of throwing shit at the fan, but instead of seeing what sticks, they just go along with it and double down on adding more shit. The ... read more
Fairly decent Stoner Rock album with bluesy elements. It starts off really strong, especially on the first track with some nasty, evil riffing, but it loses most of the aggression along the way. The songs feel a little too repetitive and are not as memorable as something out of 'Lightning at the door'.
