LISTENED A WHILE AGO, FORGOT TO ADD HERE
This was a very spur of the moment addition to the binge. Pharrell is a hip-hop legend. Chances are he produced something in your top 10 hip-hop songs of all time. But I realized, I had yet to listen to an album of his until now! Verdict…. It's pretty damn good! Standout tracks were How Does It Feel?, Best Friend, That Girl, Take It Off (Dim The Lights), Baby, Number One and Show You How To Hustle.
I haven’t listened to Baby Keem much but I decided since I was free, I’d tune into the listening party and wow, this was an incredible album. Baby Keem knows his way around a pen and I will certainly be looking into his other work in the near future. That title track blew me away dude! Standout tracks were Ca$ino, Good Flirts, House Money, I am not a Lyricist, Sex Appeal, Highway 95 pt.2, Circus Circus Free$tyle, Dramatic Girl and No Blame.
Incredibly impressive album, Malcolm Todd has a silky smooth voice and really lets their nuts hang here by writing absolute ear worms. This album is like if you took the best parts of Gemini Rights by Steve Lacy and you do that consistently for an entire tracklist. Genuinely so beautiful. Standout tracks were Earrings, Roommates, On My Shoulder, Thailand, Sweet Boy, Rodrick Rules, Art House, New Friends, Accutane and Hot in NY.
GIVE ME A PERSON BURGER. Anyways this album is literally insane. BUSDRIVER treats words like toys and puts together stanzas that I could have never guessed would have been thought of before. I appreciate how ambitious this project is. Every couple tracks he’ll start talking about some real shit and it’ll catch me off guard. That kind of shit is incredible and I love when an album keeps me on my toes. Standout tracks were Along Came A Biter, Idle Chatter, Gun Control, Suing Sony, ... read more
This was pretty darn good! While the album certainly does show its age (track 7….), the highs of this album are very high and before going for the full album I found certain songs drawing me in. Bloody Bodies is super catchy. It has that 2010’s edge you don’t hear anymore, for better and for worse. Standout tracks were Bloody Bodies, I Know a Girl who…, Let’s Hit the Beach, Nasty MoFo with a Dream, This Slut (DESPITE THE LYRICS) and I Want 2 Fall n Luv w/ a ... read more
Short, but sweet. My conclusion from listening to these last two Sick Animation albums is that this artist is the definition of talent in the hands of a jester. He’s just making music for the love of the game and there’s something incredibly endearing about it. My biggest complaint with this album is that I left it wanting more, and that’s a good complaint to leave an album with, I left the 2010 album with more haha. Standout tracks were An Appeal to the Muse, When I Grip the ... read more
I used to listen to a lot of Eminem growing up because that was what my mom would throw on more than anybody else, Listening to this album when this dropped was like seeing someone you’ve viewed as a rap legend for years be dragged out to the shed by their chain and have a mag dumped into their head. The only standout track to me was Houdini and that dropped in advance to the album. Disappointing stuff.
I love Jack Stauber’s work, Opal is beautiful and the visual direction of his stuff is incredible, so I thought I would enjoy this a bit more than I ended up enjoying it. There's too many tracks on here man and they are all so short that you don't really take away anything from most of them. There's a few gems in there but thirty seconds a track isn't enough music for me to really enjoy a song and putting 99 of those on one album isn't going to keep me invested ... read more
Recommended by a friend of mine over the internet, I think this album is really cool but a lot of it went over my head. It reminds me thoroughly of MF DOOM’s early work but it didn't quite click for me nearly as well as Dumile’s work has. It's going to take a few replays to really resonate with me. The album tackles some sensitive topics I'm very familiar with and it was nice to be able to feel like I could relate to what I was listening to. The standout track for me ... read more
Checked this out because my homie Kaden is a huge NSP fan and I had already heard a few tracks from them because he'd play them while picking me up. Really enjoyed this album! While some bits didn't land I think the ones that did were hilarious and the interludes were fun. Standout tracks were Get Ready (To Get Ready), Dance ‘Til You Stop, Behind the Mask, Dig ‘Ol Bick, Galaxy Hamster, and the Boner of Peace.
This was an incredibly short but sweet experience. This artist gets a lot of hate (honestly more than likely rooted in deep seeded transphobia..) but I thought a lot of these were total ear worms. I first heard of femtanyl through Twitter discourse of all things. Glad I ignored all the people engagement farming and listened to it. Standout tracks were P3T, PUSH UR T3MPRR, KATAMARI, MURDER EVERY 1 U KNOW! and GIRL HELL 1999.
Introduced to me through my homie Adon, I saw him keep bumping tracks from this album on Spotify and after months of just having Lithonia in my playlist I decided to make the jump and take on the full experience. While a lot of the songs on this album can be seen as hit and miss, at its highs it's high. I don't think is where I should've started with Childish Gambino's work in full but fuck it, we ball. Standout Tracks are H3@RT$ W3RE M3@NT TO F7¥, Lithonia, Survive, ... read more
This is my first vocaloid related review because I’ve yet to seriously go deep down the rabbit hole. I thought this was a neat little album! While there weren’t a loCannott of standout tracks I thought the few songs that did catch my ear were real bangers. Standout tracks were Dyad, Not Quite There, Machine Love and BIRDBRAIN.
This one also took a remarkably long time for me to check out. Steve Lacy has always been on my radar. Hell, Bad Habit has been in my playlist for at least a year or so now. I thought the rest of the tracks were also very good but in my opinion the focal point of the album stayed that song and the other ones felt like just bonus points. Still great music! Standout tracks were Static, Helmet, Mercury, Bad Habit and Cody Freestyle.
I am fairly new to both of these artists but I thought this was a really good standard rap album. Standout tracks were God is Perfect, Scottie Beam, Frank Lucas, Something to Rap About, Baby $hit, Babies & Fools and Skinny Suge.
Very good pop album. While pop isn't really a genre I jump into much, I thoroughly enjoyed many songs. I thought the tracks addressing Charli xcx’s relationship with other pop stars were insightful and not what I expected from such a mainstream album. In the best way possible I was blown away by BRAT. Standout tracks are Sympathy is a knife, Von dutch, Rewind, So I, Girl, so confusing, Mean girls and 365.
This album was very cool. It has that sort of warm relaxing hip-hop feel that albums like Enter the Wu-Tang bring me. I thought it was going to be very difficult to follow up Magic, Alive! by McKinley Dixon but Only Built 4 Cuban Linx was an incredible change of pace and felt very cozy. Standout tracks were Knuckleheadz, Criminology, Incarcerated Scarfaces, Rainy Dayz, Glaciers of Ice, Wu-Gambinos and North Star (Jewels).
This took me far too long to review. My mom got me a vinyl record of this on my birthday and my turntable broke so I needed to get a new one. This is the SECOND album I’ve experienced in completion for the first time on vinyl record and I actually appreciated this one a lot more than I thought I was going to. This album gets a terrible rep within the Tyler, the Creator community, I thought this was very subversive and dope. It's unique, experimental and in my eyes shows a perfect ... read more
This album felt like a heavy journey, there were a lot of moments where I didn't understand what was going on but it's not something I'm particularly unfamiliar with. JPEGMAFIA is an incredible rapper and I wish there was more time dedicated to that in the tracks but for what was presented, I was pleasantly surprised. Standout tracks for me are Germs, I Fucking Wait Til Morrissey Dies and Rainbow Six.
I was kinda put off from the album for a while. I had an abusive ex that would almost exclusively quote JID every call we were in and I was worried that jumping into this album would trigger something deep in me that I was running away from. It's been nearly two years now, and I’ve healed enough. I think this was some pretty stellar rap and JID has a very clear talent for rapping. It's not my favorite rap album of this session and I wouldn’t consider myself a huge fan of ... read more
