Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon

I think us and them is a bit overrated and on the run is underrated. But yeah this is one of the best classic rock albums created. Its very relaxing, spacey and euphoric. The clean transitions are really cool too.

Deafheaven - Lonely People With Power

This is amazing holy fuck. The powerful screams with the ethereal guitar overdubs are an inspired choice. I know thats what this band has been for years but it cant be understated how they still manage to be unique in that. The production is just perfection as well. There is a couple heavy riffs too that work incredibly as well. It can get slightly samey at some points but thats a minor nitpick for an album that succeeds in all that it is attempting to achieve. Highly recommended to anyone that ... read more

It nice. I dont have much to add to that.

The Orchestra (For Now) - Plan 75

Been struggling to review music recently. Easing back in with this ep of songs right down my alley. Learning theres some connection to bcnr and black midi. Even if in just location. Theres something in the water because it creates damn creative minds.
The strip happened to be recommended to me by spotify a week ago and i fell in love with it immediately. Randomly looking at best releases i found this was highly acclaimed and not just a weird spotify thing. I figured what the hell why not. Its ... read more

Panda Bear - Sinister Grift

This is just so boring. Its a mediocre sublime/tame impala/beach boys child. It sounds better on paper than it is in practice. I really dont like this guys voice. Its approaching a whine constantly and it just doesnt sound good. And the vibe is very subdued. Psychedelic music to me is best when its either incredibly lush or technical, complex, unique and fun. Or at least the vocalist has to encapsulate the vibe better than this. He reminds me.of simple plans lead vocalist to me at points. I ... read more

Ahhh. I want to like this so much more than i do. If it was the 10 best tracks without the interludes, it would be an amazing album. However. It does start to get a little tedious when every other song is an interlude. It just feels like filler. I get there is a theme to the album and its attempting to envelop you into the dystopian world of the capitalist destroyed future. Its a neat theme. But the way its done is just not fun to listen to. The pacing of this is awful. The great songs are ... read more

Far East Movement - Like a G6

The beat is actually aged pretty well. Everything else has aged horribly however. The slang used dates it so much and its so tryhard. They dont sell it whatsoever. I used to hate this song a lot more. Its not that hard on the ears actually. But everything aside from the chorus and beat is really bad. And the chorus isnt that good.

Death Grips - Year of the Snitch
86

Some crazy experimentation into more punk territory. Works for the most part. I couple odd moments that dont really connect. But each part here is brisk so a misstep doesnt hurt the flow of things too badly. Fun listen (for lack of a better word its kinda weird to be fun but you know what i mean.)

JENNIE - ExtraL
69

Doechii is really great in the song but i really dont like jennies 1st verse af all. The chorus is alright but still feels like a massive downgrade from doechii.

Dammit doechii you went too hard for the song youre on and make the rest feel disappointing

The Neighbourhood - Sweater Weather
89

There arent enough songs with autumn/winter vibes. And while this is just about sex probably, its still a nice vibe. I like it more than i probably should but oh well it works for me for some reason.

Sam Fender - People Watching
85

This album is definitely more than the sum of its relative straightforward parts. Its a singer songwriter indie rock album with some folk and country tinges. Sounds pretty generic, and it almost is. Fender's Brandon Flowers of The Killers mixed with Hozier vocal stylings is quite excellent and the instrumentation while not all that unique is effective. The lyricism is pretty sharp as well. It does the fundamentals well and thats all it has to do. Its the Tim Duncan of albums. The sneaky ... read more

Gojira - From Mars to Sirius

This may be the best thing France has done for the world.

Jokes aside this shit is incredible. When i want to listen to brutal metal this scratches the itch perfectly every time. It has enough of a melody most of the time to still be more than just screaming and noise. But also the vocal growls are like the perfect amount of guttural while still remaining human and able to produce identifiable melodies if need be. Its what i wish all metal vocals were as someone extremely picky about screamed ... read more

Tame Impala - Currents

Just kinda quintessential psychedelic pop about the paranoia and downsides of love. Might make a high person cry but thats ok. Always sober me can vibe to it and just kinda sadly relate and not cry. Jokes aside it fills its niche incredibly well and thats all it really needs to do. Great album.

Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly

100th review a 100/100 album.

One of the best rap albums of all time. Just pure excellence. So catchy and iconic. Theres nothing to say that hasnt been said a million times. Its TPAB let me have this. The jazz elements just sound so fucking good. And this is peak kendrick in lyricism in use of vocal talent im flow, in concept, in creativity. In everything basically. From the perfect funky basslines in wesleys theory and king kunta to the jazz chaos of For Free, the pure joy and optimism of ... read more

The Velveteers - A Million Knives

They have a cool royal blood type thing going on. Im not 100% sure but i think they are using bass as the main instrument like they do, or at least downtuning to that register. Not quite as massive of a sound as the aforementioned band are able to execute at their best but its still pretty cool. This band does lack slightly in creativity in the rhythm section and it does hold it back from being truly great but its still solid enough.

I really like the vocalist. She has a cardigans-esque ... read more

Oklou - choke enough

I dont know why most of this album refuses to have drums. Blade bird is the best song because it actually has drums to give it a pulse. A majority of this album is near lifeless with the spare instrumentation and hollow vocals. The reverb is a blatant crutch that barely helps give any musical depth. Im reluctant to give this a negative score because its not really anything that wrong with it aside from being a bit dull. But the last song actually being good confuses me as to why they couldnt ... read more

We dont have to listen to this guys. Its fine. We all know its mid whining about the beef.

The Lumineers - Automatic

My sister asked me to listen to this so i figured i might as well review it here as well. I dont get a whole lot out of it. Its fine enough background music, It starts off solid with same old song and asshole i like the lyrics and the melodies are pretty nice. But kinda fails to leave much of an impression outside of that. A little bit of overwriting at points here on songs like automatic and better day. Like just a little bit of an eye roll sometimes. But its not awful its better than i ... read more

D'Angelo - Really Love
NR

99 is kinda crazy. I dont wanna ruin it because my opinion isnt important enough for that but its still crazy the rating is this high. Dont get me wrong this is very good but it doesnt hit like best song ever or anything. Its quite smooth and pleasant. The spanish guitar is a nice touch. But yeah id probably give it 85.

Kanye West - Yeezus
85

I really love the sound of this album. Its pure chaos and hedonism and it knows its that and it just works... except for send it up which sounds awful. And the last part is just a slower ripoff of on sight thats worse. If the album didnt have that song it would be a pretty much spotless album.
Still fuck kanye west for the person hes become tho. Im able to separate the art from the artist. I dont really care that much if he gets half a cent from my spotify plays.
