Capital Cities - Holiday
89

I definitely felt a Daft Punk inspiration with this single, almost similar to "Face to Face", and now that I think about it, some other songs from "Discovery" hold some resemblance with Holiday as well.

Edit: They need to stop with the covers, but I still like it.

Jean Dawson - Glimmer of God
93

This was the loudest I have ever listened to an album, mostly because I just realized how much better songs sound at higher volumes, which was rather dumb of me. But regardless of volume Jean Dawson shocked me with Glimmer of God, I was honestly expecting to give this album a low-to-mid 80 based on the singles, which would have still been really good. However, even after just the first couple of songs, I had a pretty good vison of what my rating would be. While there are a few obvious ... read more

Jean Dawson - Houston

A single that you don't want to end, is the best way I can describe my feelings of Houston. I was recently listening to a couple of Jean Dawson's singles because someone recommended a couple of other songs by him, and when I played Houston, I remembered I had actually already listened to it and enjoyed it a lot. And after hearing it again, I found that like I said earlier, I didn't want to stop listening to it. Jean Dawson really did an amazing job of making Houston pull you into ... read more

Yung Lean - Psykos
80

It's crazy how all the best songs are right after each other. While mostly each song is good, Psykos definitely could've benefited from a couple more songs in the middle of the album, and overall, less dull songs, especially with Coda and some of the later songs on this album. I had no problems with either Yung Lean or Bladee on Psykos, I thought they both did good in terms of singing and their overall prominence on Psykos. My problems with this album came from the individual songs ... read more

Blur - The Ballad of Darren
92

I am a bit late, but I did my first review now slightly over a year ago. And before I started reviewing, I listened to several albums including this one and Costal Grooves in August of 2023 as recommendations, so in a way The Ballad of Darren is one of the reasons I even got into music. It's a surreal experience listening to this album as each song is nostalgic to me as I am already very familiar with each of them, which makes it hard for me to dislike any part of this album. And while I ... read more
