Bruno Mars - The Romantic
68

Could it be any more romantic than this? I don't think so right?

Ten years after 24K Magic and we’re finally getting a new Bruno Mars solo album!!! That alone already feels kind of unreal. A new solo record has been long overdue at this point. And then you realise it’s also been five years since his collab album with Anderson .Paak as Silk Sonic, which was pretty great. After all those features, collaborations, and this whole new peak in popularity, it always felt like a solo ... read more

Ghostface Killah - Ironman
90

Ironman really is something else. I’m just blown away every time I listen to it. Ghostface always been one of my favourite members from Wu-Tang, and this album just shows exactly why. His voice really is one of the most iconic in hip-hop. The rawness of his voice is just what works so perfectly. And he just went off on this album. Track after track, it’s all heat.

The opener Iron Maiden already perfectly sets the tone with its gritty tone and Ghostface’s delivery goes crazy ... read more

Prince - Emancipation
82

Prince really is my GOAT, and Emancipation might be the most Prince thing Prince ever did. After years of label drama, finally breaking away from Warner Bros was a true personal victory. So how does he celebrate his freedom? With a 36-track, three-hour, triple-disc mega-album. No one else would dare. Prince didn’t just break free, he exploded out of that cage. And instead of just flexing or venting, he delivered a body of work that’s joyful, funky, weird, emotional, spiritual, and ... read more

Curren$y - Spiral Staircases
70

This one really came out of nowhere, but I’m never mad at some new Larry June & Alchemist. People can say what they want about it all sounding a bit samey, but it’s always a vibe. This time they bring Curren$y along, and that’s a link-up that’s already proven to work really well over the years.

I do have to say though, I haven’t really been feeling Curren$y’s more recent output like that. It just hasn’t been hitting the same for me. But at the same ... read more

Baby Keem - Ca$ino
74

The wait is over, two-phone Baby Keem has finally returned to planet Earth.

How long was this wait?? I mean for real. For someone who dropped his debut in 2021, taking 5 years for a sophomore album is kinda wild. Most artists try to ride that debut hype and drop again asap and that doesn’t always end well. The infamous sophomore slump is real. So honestly, I kinda respect that Keem just disappeared for a bit and really took his time with this one. At least you hope that time actually ... read more

Thundercat - She Knows Too Much
100

AOTY and it’s not even out yet… I’m dead serious.

Thundercat is clearly warming up for what might end up being his best body of work. The way these singles have been lining up is flawless. Every single one has been top tier, no drop in quality at all, no “just decent" track or anything. It’s all heat.

And now he dropped She Knows Too Much with Mac Miller... yet another incredible drop.

First of all, hearing a new Mac verse in 2026 still feels surreal. ... read more

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Piñata
90

What happens when you let one of the greatest producers of all time lock in with one of the coldest rappers of the 2010s? Then you get a masterpiece.

I can’t believe it took me this long to properly sit down with Piñata. It’s been on my spin list forever. I’d already heard a lot of Freddie Gibbs, and I’d played Bandana quite a bit too, which I thought was pretty amazing. And let’s be real, Freddie’s run has been insane. Alfredo, Alfredo II, Bandana, ... read more

Brent Faiyaz - Icon
78

Finally, Brent’s back!

After pushing the release back for a minute, Brent Faiyaz has officially dropped Icon, and I can’t lie, it feels good to have a new project from him again. I checked the date and saw that Larger Than Life came out in 2023 and that genuinely messed with my sense of time. Feels way more recent than that. But anyway, we’re here now.

Ten tracks. That’s it. And when you go that concise, you really don’t have room to hide. No filler, no ... read more

James Blake - I Had A Dream She Took My Hand
90

This album is going to be something so so special. I can already feel it.

After the first single, Death of Love, which was already really amazing, James Blake comes back with I Had A Dream She Took My Hand and man… this one is another pretty emotional one. Like, sit-in-the-corner-of-your-room-staring-at-the-ceiling type emotional.

It’s such a delicate song. The production is super gentle, very minimal at first, but that’s exactly what makes it hit. And than it explodes in ... read more

Joji - Piss In The Wind
45

Waiter, may I please have my chicken unseasoned and undercooked? Thank you.

What a dull, undercooked album this was. Joji’s been in the music scene for a while now since his whole YT era, and to his credit, he’s shown he can make some genuinely nice music. He’s never been some revolutionary artist or anything, but he delivered solid albums, some nice cuts, some atmospheric tracks. Nothing crazy, but definitely respectable. So after four years, you’d think he’d ... read more

DaBaby - BE MORE GRATEFUL
32

I gotta admit, after the first track I actually thought this might end up being better than I expected. Like okay… maybe DaBaby is about to switch something up. Maybe there’s some growth here. But nah, it was all false hope. As soon as track three hit, all those hopes were gone immediately.

From that point on, it’s the exact same DaBaby slop we’ve heard a million times already. Uninspiring, generic beats, fast rapping, a lot of energy (sort of), but absolutely nothing ... read more

Wiz Khalifa - Khaotic
47

This new Wiz Khalifa record pretty much lands where a lot of his recent stuff does. It’s another pretty forgettable project. And that’s too bad, because Wiz has shown he’s a decent rapper, got a good voice, got a smooth flow, and knows how to handle a beat. The problem is just that he never really puts it all together into a solid, consistent album.

Most of Wiz’s projects feel like quick come-and-go drops, and Khaotic is no exception. It really gives off that ... read more

J. Cole - The Fall-Off
80

The wait is finally over. After years and years of teasing, The Fall Off is finally here. J. Cole’s so-called final album. And this one felt so long overdue.

I’ll be honest right away: I’ve always had a bit of a love/hate relationship with Cole. On one hand, he’s clearly one of the most talented rappers of his generation. Great technical rapper, strong storyteller, solid ear for production when he’s locked in. On the other hand… he’s also dropped some ... read more

YoungBoy Never Broke Again - Slime Cry
15

Last year, YoungBoy dropped MASA, which for me was easily the worst project I heard all year. And now, somehow, he’s back trying to reclaim that title already. Because man… Slime Cry is absolutely atrocious. I genuinely don’t see how anything this year could top this in terms of how bad it is.

This project is just more of everything that’s been wrong with YoungBoy’s music for a while now. The auto-tune is cranked up again to such an insane level it becomes almost ... read more

Jordan Ward - BACKWARD
60

This was my first time listening to a Jordan Ward project, and I’m sorry to say but it didn’t fully click with me. BACKWARD is a very straightforward, laid-back R&B album. Smooth vocals, gentle production, clean execution. On paper, everything is there. But in practice, it just didn’t really grab me.

The whole album stays in this very soft, mellow pocket, and while that can be nice, it also gets tiring pretty fast. After a few tracks, it already starts to blur together. ... read more

Curren$y - Everywhere You Look
46

Mmm… this one didn’t really hit for me at all. And that’s a shame, because Curren$y usually at least delivers something smooth and easy to sit with. But I just can't really vibe with this project.

The weird thing is, the production itself is actually fine. Even enjoyable at times. The beats are vibey, nothing crazy but definitely serviceable. My biggest problem with this project is actually Curren$y himself. His performances feel off on here. His delivery sounds not ... read more

Don Toliver - OCTANE
65

Don Toliver is finally back with a brand new album, following up the pretty solid HARDSTONE PSYCHO. Donny has been on a run ever since Travis Scott put him on, and at this point it’s pretty clear he’s one of the defining voices in mainstream trap. His high-pitched, melodic delivery is instantly recognisable, and over the years he’s built a catalogue that’s just very easy to tap into. Not always reinventing the wheel, but consistently delivering vibe.

What I do ... read more

Thundercat - I Did This To Myself
90

Damnnnn, Thundercat is back with some funky ass shit. And he also finally announced his new album dropping this April. After a 6 year wait, the wait is finally over!!

This new single is another really funky and groovy track, with Thundercat sliding as smoothly on the bass as we're used from him. We also get a Lil Yachty verse, which I also really liked. He slides in nicely, keeps the groove going, and actually fits really well on the track.

Based on this single and the other ones ... read more

MIKA - Hyperlove
42

Zzzzzz…

I’m sorry, but why are we still doing this in 2026? How many of these dance-pop slop albums have we already heard by now? It feels like this take on the genre has been copy-pasted a thousand times, and this new MIKA album sadly does absolutely nothing to change that.

Look, dance-pop can be great. There are plenty of artists who prove that you can make exciting, creative, fun dance-pop without it sounding cheap or lazy. But way too often, artists take this lane as the easy ... read more

The Doors - The Doors
93

The self-titled debut album by The Doors... well, this one was long overdue for me. Obviously, I’ve heard their name come across some times, knew a bit about their legacy in rock music, knew Jim Morrisson was a huge influential figure in rock history, heard some of their songs... but somehow I never really sat down and listened to one of their albums. But now, the time is here. I finally listened to their debut album, and I’m so glad I did. This album is absolutely ... read more

"@TheNevermeant 100%, he got way too comfortable on this album, it just feels like a bunch of leftovers sticked together rather than something new and creative. And I get what you’re saying about the wider scene too, there’s definitely a lot of hip hop artists that don’t really push boundaries anymore on their latest albums and just stick to what already works because it still sells. I mean, most of their fanbase will still swallow it. Hopefully that trend gets broken through soon, because it will only further devaluate the quality of music (at least in the mainstream)."
