Roc Marciano is back with a new album, and he delivers exactly what you’d expect from him. 656 is fully on that drumless sound again, and it still works perfectly for him. Sure, over a full album it can feel a little one-dimensional at times, but if you’re vibing with that drumless, soul loop-heavy style, this is right up your alley.
The laid-back production makes the perfect backdrop for Roc to just rap his ass off again. Nothing is really trying to steal the spotlight from him ... read more
This was actually a pretty enjoyable project. IDK has been around for a while now and he’s always been one of those rappers I kinda keep an eye on. He can rap decently for sure, but his albums never fully clicked with me. Usually there were a few tracks I liked, mixed with a bunch that I forgot about pretty quickly. But honestly, this might be the project I’ve enjoyed the most from him so far.
First of all, that guest list is insane. No I.D., Black Thought, Conductor Williams, DMX, ... read more
Well… I was asking myself the same thing.
I was mostly just curious to be honest. Thought I’d check in on how the other One Direction guys are doing with their solo careers. Up till now, Harry Styles is really the only one who’s managed to turn that into something notable. And sure, Zayn had a few big hits years ago, but that doesn’t really save his solo run overall. So when I saw Louis Tomlinson dropped a new album, I figured, why not give it a spin.
And well… ... read more

This was genuinely unpleasant to sit through. Look, Robbie Williams is quite a big name in Europe. Not really in the US, but over here he’s got the hits, the legacy, the nostalgia factor. And sure, most of that stuff was always pretty polished radio pop, but at least it worked for the radio. This though? This is something else.
The past few years haven’t exactly been kind to Robbie, and this album really sounds like a full-on midlife crisis put on wax. I ... read more
Finally, James Blake is back with a new single from his upcoming album Trying Times, and it just instantly reminds me why he’s such an unique artist. He’s been on an insane run ever since he came through in the early 2010s, and with this track he once again proves that almost everything he touches turns into gold.
At first, the production may seem a bit minimal, but the more you listen, the more you find out how layered and detailed it actually is. The production just has this ... read more
Almost four years after Harry’s House, Harry Styles is finally back with the lead single for his upcoming album Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally. Harry has been a pretty interesting name in pop music for a while now. Since going solo, he’s released three albums and to me, each one felt like a step up from the last. They’re not all super consistent or inventive, but you can clearly hear him finding his way as a solo artist more and more. Sure, Harry’s not the most ... read more
Zach Bryan is back with a new album, and at this point he’s pretty much cemented himself as one of the most interesting artists in the country / Americana space right now. And with With Heaven On Top, he adds another solid addition to his catalogue. What makes Zach Bryan so strong is still very much present here. The songwriting, that raw and soothing voice, and the way he carries emotion through his music. He really shows his A-game again on this record.
With Heaven On Top is a long ... read more
Madison Beer is back with a new album, and well… this one kinda leaves a lot to be desired. She’s been grinding on her career for years now, and I respect that, but if I’m being honest, nothing has really clicked yet. She definitely has a good voice, no doubt about that. But at the same time, it just doesn’t feel distinctive enough. It floats somewhere in that generic pop-girl space, and that makes it hard to really latch onto.
Her singing is fine, but there are so ... read more
Prince really was on another level. By the time he dropped Chaos and Disorder, this man was already eighteen albums deep, and somehow he still managed to create something that sounded completely different than what he had done before. That alone is wild. This albums marks his final release under Warner Bros, and that whole situation was already messy. You can hear that tension all over this record. It sounds like Prince letting out every ounce of frustration with his label, but doing it in the ... read more

We’re really here??? Like… actually here??? After years and years of endless rollout cycles, fake starts, one single here, silence there, leaks, delays, restarting everything again, and just pure pain as a Rocky fan, Don’t Be Dumb is finally out. I genuinely can’t believe it. Almost eight (!!!!) years after Testing. Eight. ... read more
I’m so glad I happened to stumble across Rapture. I knew Anita Baker’s name for quite some time now, and I knew a few of her songs here and there, but I had never actually sat down and listened to an album from her. And I’m just so glad I finally did, because this album is really beautiful.
First thing that really hits you is her amazing voice. Anita Baker really is one of the greatest soul singers ever, and I don’t even think that’s a hot take. Her voice is quite ... read more
Damnnn Rocky… we’re really in DBD release week huh?? It still feels kinda unreal that we’re actually here. And now Rocky drops the second single with Helicopter$, and this one’s a fucking banger too, no other way to put it.
Punk Rocky was already a great vibe and quite a nice track on its own, and now with Helicopter$ he switches it up again and goes straight into that trap lane again. The production hits crazy hard and Rocky absolutely kills it here. His flow on this ... read more
One of the most interesting artists in the Dutch hip-hop scene is finally back. After four years, sor drops a new full-length album, and I got to say it was about time. After the Bae Doven series, where he mixed hip-hop with classical music, I was really curious where he’d go next.
For some context, sor participated in the Dutch TV show Maestro, where celebs compete to become the best orchestra conductor. He actually won that, and you could really tell he had a genuine feel for classical ... read more
Wow… this was bad. Like, genuinely bad. Horrendous even. I really didn’t expect to say this about Robyn, because she’s quite a big name in dance music. But man, this is absolutely lacklustre dogshit.
Both tracks are built on the most bare-bones, minimalistic dance production imaginable. And I don’t mean minimal in a cool, intentional way. I mean minimal as in there’s basically nothing there. No interesting ideas, no tension, no progression, no groove that sticks. ... read more
New Kid Laroi, let’s tap in and see what he got in store for us.
Look, I’ve never really been the biggest Laroi fan. His music isn’t bad at all, but it also rarely really exciting to me. It’s mostly melodic, R&B-driven production with some pop and trap elements, a lot of autotuned singing on top. It sounds fine all across, sometimes even pretty nice, but it often misses that edge or something that really makes it stand out rather than just being some ... read more
So I saw there were quite a few new projects dropping today, and I figured, why not check out something I didn’t really know yet. That’s how I ended up listening to this new Dry Cleaning album, Secret Love.
At first, I was actually intrigued. The production sounds nice enough and the talk-singing / spoken-word delivery does kind of work in the beginning. It’s something different, that’s for sure. It does have a certain charm to it, and for the first few tracks I was ... read more
What the hell did I just listen to…
So, the year has barely started, not that many releases yet, so I figured I’d check out some releases I didn’t know at all. And I ended up listening to this EP by Paleface Swiss. Big mistake.
This might genuinely be one of the worst things I’ve heard in a while. This isn’t heavy in a good way, this is just noise for the sake of being noisy. And look, there’s a ton of great metal / metalcore / deathcore out there. But ... read more
Okay, what is going on already??? 2026 is starting off really great already. We’re getting new music from A$AP Rocky soon, a bunch of artists are already teasing and announcing new stuff for this year, and then out of absolutely nowhere Bruno Mars drops the news that he’s releasing a new solo album. After ten years. Ten!!! That alone is insane.
Bruno is just one of those artists. A complete monster in the industry. Endless hits, ridiculous popularity, and somehow it feels like ... read more
Following the pretty bad self-titled album — which was well-produced but completely soulless and uninspired — The Beach Boys returned in 1989 with Still Cruisin’. After scoring a big hit with Kokomo (soundtrack for Cocktails), they decided to build a whole album around it, mixing a few new songs with a few of their old classics. It doesn’t make much sense at all… but okay.
Just like most of their late-period albums, this one wasn’t much of a true Beach Boys ... read more
