XXXTENTACION - Bad Vibes Forever
25

Bad Vibes Forever is a disappointing and disrespectful release that tarnishes XXXTENTACION’s legacy. The album feels more like a cash grab than a meaningful posthumous release, with unfinished demos and incomplete ideas strung together in a way that feels rushed and lacking in depth. Instead of honouring his unique style and vision, the project capitalises on his name, offering little more than half-baked tracks that fail to live up to his earlier work. It’s frustrating to see such ... read more

Ed Sheeran - No.6 Collaborations Project
35

No.6 Collaborations Project from Ed Sheeran feels like a lacklustre attempt at a star-studded album. Despite featuring a wide range of big-name collaborators, the project comes across as uninspired and forgettable. The collaborations feel forced, with Sheeran pairing up with artists who don’t seem to contribute much beyond adding their name to the tracklist. The production is bland, and the songs lack energy or a genuine connection between Sheeran and his collaborators. Overall, ... read more

Anderson .Paak - Ventura
84

Ventura is Anderson .Paak at his absolute best. It’s funky, groovy, and overflowing with soul, blending classic R&B, funk, and hip-hop in a way that feels both timeless and refreshing. Anderson .Paak has always been known for his ability to craft feel-good music with a deep emotional core, and on Ventura, he perfects that balance.

From the jump, Ventura grabs your attention with some of the catchiest and most infectious tracks of Anderson .Paak’s career. The album opener, ... read more

Freddie Gibbs & Madlib - Bandana
87

The collaboration between Freddie Gibbs and Madlib on Bandana is nothing short of masterful. Both artists had already established themselves as some of the best in their respective lanes—Freddie with his razor-sharp storytelling and undeniable presence, and Madlib with his unparalleled ability to craft intricate, off-kilter beats that sound like they were dug straight out of some lost vault of golden-era hip-hop. Their first joint effort, Piñata, set the bar high, but Bandana ... read more

Pink Floyd - Meddle
90

Meddle is often considered one of Pink Floyd’s finest albums, marking a pivotal moment in their evolution and arguably standing as their best work up to that point. The album represents the perfect fusion of their experimental beginnings and their growing ability to craft more polished and cohesive pieces, solidifying their place in the prog rock pantheon.

The album kicks off with the hauntingly powerful One of These Days, a track that immediately sets the tone for what’s to come. ... read more

The Beach Boys - Surf's Up
93

Following the brilliance of Sunflower, Surf’s Up feels like the perfect follow-up — another incredible high point in The Beach Boys’ career, but one that comes from a much more reflective and melancholic place. Where Sunflower was very bright, warm, and full of life, Surf’s Up dives into something deeper. It’s more introspective, more emotional, and in a lot of ways, more haunting too.

Right from the opening track, Don’t Go Near the Water, you can sense that ... read more

SAINt JHN - While The World Was Burning
64

SAINt JHN delivers a solid effort with While The World Was Burning, though the album does suffer from some inconsistency. While certain tracks feel like filler or don’t quite land as well as they could, the highs are definitely worth it. Songs like Sucks To Be You, Pray 4 Me, and Quarantine Wifey showcase his signature melodic style, bringing the moody, atmospheric vibes that fans have come to expect.

What makes SAINt JHN stand out is his ability to blend rap and R&B effortlessly, ... read more

Bryson Tiller - A N N I V E R S A R Y
72

Anniversary is a solid project from Bryson Tiller, but let’s be real—it’s not Trapsoul. And that’s fine. At just 10 tracks and 30 minutes, it doesn’t overstay its welcome, keeping things tight and focused. It doesn’t try to reinvent Tiller’s sound, but instead, it leans into what he does best: smooth R&B vibes, moody production, and that signature mix of singing and rapping.

While it’s not the most groundbreaking or fresh release, there are ... read more

65

6pc Hot EP is a solid return from 6LACK, delivering exactly what fans expect from him—moody, atmospheric R&B with smooth vocals and introspective lyrics. While it doesn’t necessarily break new ground, it’s still an enjoyable listen that fits well within his signature style.

The EP has a laid-back feel, with standout tracks like ATL Freestyle and Long Nights capturing 6LACK’s ability to create emotionally charged yet vibey music. The production is polished and ... read more

Under the OVO umbrella, dvsn delivers a solid R&B album with A Muse In Her Feelings, packed with smooth production, sultry vocals, and the signature moody atmosphere that fans have come to love. While it doesn’t necessarily push the boundaries of the genre, it still offers plenty of enjoyable moments that make it worth a listen.

Black Atlass - Dream Awake
64

Under the XO umbrella, Black Atlass delivers Dream Awake, a sleek R&B project that showcases his smooth vocals and atmospheric production. His voice is undeniably one of his strongest assets, carrying a rich, emotional tone that elevates the best moments on the album. Tracks like By My Side, Lie to Me, and Shadows stand out as highlights, blending moody instrumentals with his hypnotic delivery.

However, while the album is undeniably well-produced and polished, it doesn’t necessarily ... read more

PARTYNEXTDOOR - PARTYMOBILE
63

After an incredible run with PARTYNEXTDOOR 1, 2, and 3, PND returns with PARTYMOBILE, an album that, while still offering enjoyable moments, doesn’t quite reach the highs of his earlier work. The smooth, moody production and signature melodies are still present, but the project leans too heavily on familiar territory, making it feel more predictable than innovative.

That’s not to say there aren’t standout tracks—songs like Nothing Less, The News, Split Decision, Loyal, ... read more

Blxst - No Love Lost
64

Blxst’s No Love Lost is a smooth and well-crafted EP that showcases his talent for melody, flow, and catchy songwriting. His voice carries a laid-back confidence, effortlessly gliding over the warm, polished production. Tracks like Overrated, Be Alone, and No Love Lost highlight his knack for infectious hooks and relatable lyrics, making the project an easy listen from start to finish.

However, while the EP is solid and enjoyable, it doesn’t necessarily push any boundaries. Blxst ... read more

Drake - Dark Lane Demo Tapes
63

Dark Lane Demo Tapes is exactly what the title suggests—a loose collection of songs rather than a fully realised album. While it may not feature Drake’s best work, it still delivers a handful of enjoyable tracks that highlight different sides of his artistry.

One of the clear standouts is Chicago Freestyle, where Giveon’s haunting vocals complement Drake’s introspective verses perfectly. It’s one of his strongest songs in recent years, capturing the moody, ... read more

Ariana Grande - Positions
63

After the massive success of Dangerous Woman, Sweetener, and thank u, next, Ariana Grande returns with Positions, an album that, while still enjoyable at times, feels somewhat underwhelming compared to her previous work.

There are definite highlights—off the table featuring The Weeknd is a beautifully emotional ballad, safety net with Ty Dolla $ign has a smooth, moody atmosphere, and tracks like my hair and pov showcase her incredible vocals and R&B sensibilities. However, the album ... read more

Pop Smoke - Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon
62

Pop Smoke’s debut album, released posthumously, is a bittersweet reminder of his immense potential. While Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon doesn’t fully capture the raw energy of his earlier drill tapes, it does showcase his versatility and ability to blend melodic rap with his signature grit.

Tracks like Aim for the Moon, The Woo, Got It on Me, and Dior highlight his unique voice, infectious charisma, and powerful delivery. His ability to switch between aggressive drill ... read more

Bad Bunny - EL ÚLTIMO TOUR DEL MUNDO
68

On his second album of 2020, Bad Bunny takes a different approach, shifting away from the heavy reggaetón focus that defined much of his previous work and diving more into a fusion of pop, rap, and trap. EL ÚLTIMO TOUR DEL MUNDO feels like an experiment in sound and artistic direction, a project where Bad Bunny isn’t afraid to step outside the box and try new things.

There are some undeniable highlights on the album. Songs like Maldita Pobreza, with its rock-infused sound, ... read more

Big Sean - Detroit 2
70

Three years after his last album, Big Sean made his return with Detroit 2, a project that, while not necessarily groundbreaking, stands as his most personal and refined work to date. Clocking in at 1 hour and 11 minutes, the album does feel a bit long, but it also showcases Sean at his most focused, delivering some of his best songwriting yet.

From the introspective Lucky Me to the hard-hitting Deep Reverence featuring Nipsey Hussle, Detroit 2 finds Big Sean digging deeper into his life ... read more

Future - High Off Life

"@TheNevermeant 100%, he got way too comfortable on this album, it just feels like a bunch of leftovers sticked together rather than something new and creative. And I get what you’re saying about the wider scene too, there’s definitely a lot of hip hop artists that don’t really push boundaries anymore on their latest albums and just stick to what already works because it still sells. I mean, most of their fanbase will still swallow it. Hopefully that trend gets broken through soon, because it will only further devaluate the quality of music (at least in the mainstream)."
