Ok I'll admit that I snubbed this album quite a lot because of my stupid prejudices thinking that Italian pop was basically all the same and stayed stale for a while and whilst I didn't find something ground breaking or original on this project, I must say that this was more than a pleasant surprise, I was astonished by the mixture of the classic itpop formula with R&B, synthpop and soul in it and also the overall excellent quality of the instrumentals, every production has so many layers ... read more
Another bunch of Emis Killa tracks with mediocre and bland instrumentals, wack bars, boring flows, horrible choruses and dreadful corny lyricism with the same 3 references everytime but this time is even worse with the addition of the F slur and some ableist shit on the track "HUMBLE".
I still don't get why he thinks he's hot shit, he literally sold out to the industry multiple times making awful pop records and still wants to hold the facade that he's one of the few real rappers out ... read more
Honestly overhated, it's not something groundbreaking or that I've never heard but Sfera never sounded this good in years and this record alone is far better than everything he released after "Rockstar".
I liked his flows and delivery in many songs like "Calcolatrici" or "Gol" or "3uphon" which sound rather new for him, many of the featurings did a pretty fair job except for maybe Baby Gang and Simba La Rue, lyrically it is what it is and for what it's ... read more
Salmo's lyricism continues to be terrible and the song that samples Who Dat Boy is awful, nothing against Noyz though.
no fucking way this was produced by tatsuro yamashita and i'm discovering this just now
this gotta be a joke, what are those lyrics, why his singing sounds off tune and why there are so many weird and awful vocal inflections??? wtf teezo what is this
The Weeknd's first studio album is... hard to review actually, I have mixed feelings towards this LP, or more like a love-hate relationship, it comes right after the trilogy and whilst it changes and spices up the sound overall it still sounds somewhat linked to some characteristics of the earlier mixtapes but I feel like it took maybe just the worst parts of it, like the extremely long and tedious running time of some tracks that absolutely didn't need to be that long, like "Pretty" ... read more
I don't exactly know what he was trying to accomplish or say with this record (or maybe I'm just dumb and not at all connected with Kanye's lore or whatever), everything feels so random but it slaps, some transitions from one track to another sound great and it's an easy but yet charismatic listening experience soundwise, the hidden featurings all delivered good performances especially The Weeknd in "FML", Rihanna in "Famous", Sampha in "Saint Pablo" and as much as ... read more
To this day, probably The Weeknd's most consistent and conceptually cohesive record, every track is a banger, it has just a filler (which is "Don't Break My Heart" in my opinion) and I could listen to this album anytime from start to finish everytime, because it isn't boring and doesn't get lost in awkward and useless running times like with previous albums, his singing sounds good as always, the instrumentals are all fantastic, vibrant and catchy and in addition to that, the ... read more
It's solid, it gets straight to the point, is well produced, it's gloomy, it's catchy and it isn't boring, that's all I can ask for a record by The Weeknd to be honest, also those two tracks produced by Gesaffelstein make me desire a joint album between them two.
EDIT (31/01/2024) [81 ➔ 86]: This EP is kinda unique, maybe I didn't search enough for similar stuff but this EP is sonically consistent in every track, the synthpop sound blended with the eerie sad and melancholic atmosphere is ... read more
After a long time I've decided to revisit this mixtape since I had a pretty negative opinion about it and whilst I now think this is a good mixtape and its influence it's undeniable, I continue to not understand why he wanted to make such long tracks, at least for me it's kinda tedious but anyway, this tape is actually really good!
"Wicked Games" is an absolute classic and probably one of the best songs The Weeknd has ever made, I would say the same for "House Of Balloons" ... read more
I wasn't sure about the rating to give to this song, but now that I listened to this song live I can confirm this is a 100.
This new record by Travis Scott is, at least for me, completely confusional, pretentious and boring, it tries too hard to be experimental with some production choices, the choruses on this LP are really repetitive to a point where they become unlistenable, Travis flows and his rapping in general on the whole album is not that interesting, the instrumentals are sometimes stale, they do not improve progressively, they almost follow the same patterns and some tracks rely just on beat switches and ... read more
