I hate this album. Like, personally hate it. I was trying to get someone into Daft Punk and I thought "Hmmm, what if I go with Homework? I haven't listened to it and a friend told me it was what got him into Daft Punk". So I listened to this album with the person I wanted to get into Daft Punk and, after enduring 7 minutes of the auditive crime that is Rock'n Roll, they turned it off, looked at me dead in the eye, and said: "You really listen to this?". My introduction to Gangsta Rap (and boy what an introduction). From start to finish this album oozes with a certain charisma that charmed me from the start. I can't pinpoint what it is exactly about the vibe of this album that had me so endeared but it's one of the most fun listens I've had. It isn't grand or climactic at all but (at least in my opinion) it is a cool sounding album. Makes me want to listen to more gangsta rap.
It's certainly not bad but it does get a bit boring at times. Apart from the story of O.J and the title track there's not really that much memorable songs. Credit where credit is due though, the lyrics are the best thing in the album and it's refreshing to listen to a more vulnerable Jay-Z. However, compared to his other good projects (especially his OG retirement Black Album) it's not that great. It feels like a slog to get through even if it lasts only 36 minutes.
An amazing record all the way through. This one may not seem that amazing from the outside but it's one of their most fun listens and has some of their best tracks of all time (Help!, Ticket To Ride, Yesterday). This one's the one that really got me into The Beatles as a band.
This one's not really that good. Might even say their worst record. Still has some good tracks in it but it feels like a slog to get through (which is weird because this one is only half an hour long).
