System of a Down - Steal This Album!
95

Among Soad’s best. The harmonies and vocal tracks in general on this album stand out. Maybe the best set of metal “b-sides” ever released.

System of a Down - Hypnotize
92

One of the best rock/metal albums of the mid 2000s. All of the hooks hit and the guitar tracks are some of soad’s best. This album could be describe as the Daron Malakian show, as he is clearly the standout member on this one. Overall a great album and one that should be considered as one of the band’s best.

Travis Scott - UTOPIA

The world is melting around Travis Scott and our ears are the better for it.

Weezer - Pinkerton [Deluxe Edition]

This deluxe version really cemented what this album was really about. A fantastic release

Jai Paul - Leak 04-13 (Bait Ones)

Influential album. Could’ve been game changing if released properly at the right time. Respect it for what it is.

This album set the tone for R&B in the 2010s. The dark and alternative sounds of The Weeknd on this album make it one of the most influential albums of the decade.

21 Savage, Offset & Metro Boomin - Without Warning
90

This truly is one of the best trap horror concept albums out there. The beats are grimey and 21 and Offset’s lyrics truly are reminiscent of verses that would sound great in a horror movie. There aren’t many “Halloween” albums out there, but I think this might be the quintessential one.

Childish Gambino - "Awaken, My Love!"

I still remember hearing this album for the first time. I was confused what I was hearing. I remember saying to one of my friends at school, it’s different , but it’s really good. This album has aged well, I think I like it even more now.

Playboi Carti - Die Lit
100

This album redefined the trap rap genre. Many have tried since to replicas Die Lit, but none have been able to reach the levels that the bangers on die lit do. Forever will be an album you can turn on and see people around the room bumping their heads to. Nostalgic , trippy and intoxicating, this album is an overall experience.

Freddie Gibbs - $oul $old $eparately

Freddie Gibbs is a good rapper.

Frank Ocean - Blonde

This is an absolutely encapsulating album. It makes you feel like you are a part of the album. You feel as though you are on a journey through this album with frank himself. This is personally one of my favorite albums of all time. I have never heard another album like this, and it will continue to be in my rotation for the rest of my life.

Black Country, New Road - Ants From Up There
93

An album that will be on best of 2020’s list. Modern cult classic that will hold up with time. An interesting mix of genres with tracks that hang with the best of them. Amazing, forward thinking record.

Kendrick Lamar - Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers
88

I had to listen to this album a few times before I really came to appreciate it. At first I tried comparing it to DAMN. or tpab, but realized there is no comparing this album to Kendrick’s others. This is his ode to his personal problems and his growth as a person. It’s not full of bangers, but I believe that is the point. (Even though N95 is an absolute banger) Kendricks pours his soul on this one, and I give him all of the props in the world for having the courage to drop an album ... read more
