With this album being such a giant switch up to anything he had done before, it was a pretty interesting album. Some extreme highs with some lows that I could never get my head around. The album does an amazing job at showing his state of mind during this time, and I have never heard a colder sounding album in my life. Its just for the poor lyrics, the overdone autotune, and the inconsistency in track quality does not sit well. Say You Will sounds like youre hiding in a freezer in the year ... read more
The chemistry on this album is too good. Danger Mouse crafted the perfect beats, allowing for Black Thought to be all over this album. I also really enjoyed how he tailored some of the production to the features, such as Strangers having a Run the Jewels sounding beat and Saltwater having a very Griselda beat. Amazing sampling, amazing rapping, smooth and crisp beats, and just insane lyricism. I could listen over and over and its easily a modern rap classic
Something about this album isn't clicking to me anymore but I can't figure out what it is. The album makes you feel like you're there with him performing in front of a stadium, sharing his ego. It is awesome, fun, and so so energetic. Maybe I have heard it too much and some of it sounds dated, but it is still extremely special what it did for music and how it can make you feel so much larger than life
While the vibe of the album was very cool, it lacked any form of good mixing. It sounded extremely rough all round, with Mach's voice sounding rough and the production, while exciting, sounded extremely rough. It seemed like the project had a much higher potential than it reached. Embarrasment of Riches was amazing though
Cute little album, nice and short and did not overstay its welcome what so ever. Vocalist definitely tries to overdo it a bit but overall a lot of fun, emotional, and the runtime makes this all a great listen.
A very well written album with some excellent production. While The Story of OJ is so extremely strong, there are loads of weaker points. The writing, rapping, and production all work very well together, it just does not have as much of an emotional impact on me as a lot of his previous work. It feels like a neccessary conclusion to his career and an important album for him to release
Some awesome tracks with some not bad ones but nothing too special. Freddie is rapping amazing as usual and while the production is great, it does get very samey. I'd go back to a few tracks a lot but most of it is just good and meets expectations compared to the first album. Peaceful and well produced album
EXTREMELY consistent, addictive, and smooth rock album. No moments which particularly blew me away but no moments at all which I did not like. A really fun consistent listen which I'll definitely need to go back to
Extremely well written, unbelievably well produced, and just so so clean. This album is so impressive and the emotion in the production is so strong. Instrumentation is far too good and just feels so soulful. While the production is definitely the highlight, John Michel's rapping is still amazing and extremely impressive with a great delivery. I am blown away
Relistening to this was a blast. They define making whatever you feel like making and not needing to stick to any specific rules. 3D Country is a ton of fun to listen to and is such a great experience, extremely unique, and keeps you coming back for more and more. Unbelievable songwritting which never fails to keep you guessing at what comes next.
This album enduces some of the warmest feelings and it just feels like youre home. An emotionally powerful sound and he is just so dirty on the harmonica
I would reccomend this to anyone and everyone. It is a joy to listen to and the story it tells along with the story it was written and made with is beautiful. As a South African this is awesome to hear and I get excited to hear it without fail. Never has an album brought me joyful feelings like this. Under African Skies is all I ever need to hear, You Can Call Me Al is beautiful, and the opening track is just lovely and sets this joyful experience up so perfectly.
It is so impressive that an album that does not take itself very seriously can make you think so much and be SO seriously good musically. It is awesome and fun and a joy to listen to, extremely unique.
This album feels extremely pure, with much more live feeling instrumentals all over it. Every time I listen I feel like i have never heard gone or late before, I just forget about them although late is amazing. The first part is hits on hits, we major is just perfection, and hey mama is beautiful. But something on this album throughout keeps me from feeling something and i cant describe it. Still pretty much flawless but lacks SOMETHING which I dont know what is
Indescribably fun with such a joyful yet serious atmosphere. A breath of fresh air compared to any music at the time, or even today. An awesome concept album with some deeper messages about the world in general. Family business is one of the most beautiful and heartfelt tracks I have ever heard.
With an incredible start the album definitely has some forgettable moments. It is a rollercoaster of an album with something changing every couple seconds, keeping it fresh throughout, and the band has an incredible sound here. Tracks 1-3 are perfect and even some of the longer songs keep your interest. Just not enough to remember individually, although the range from rock to lullaby style music is perfect. Slightly disappointed as I expected a bit more after the start but it still deserves at ... read more
Uninspired, been done before, lack of creative direction. 2 really cool tracks but thats it
Hip-hop oerfection. Feels like you are transported right into a gangster movie and riding around with freddie in LA. Beats are way too smooth and should be illegal for rap to feel like this.
