A slow burner for sure, but once in the thick of it, Hearts Aglow is beautifully captivating, hauntingly melancholic and absolutely one of the most moving works of music to drop this side of 2022.
Hearts Aglow is emotionally weighted to say the least, themes of desolation and sorrow balanced with hope and optimism all surrounded in an atmosphere of music that really engulfs the record while of course perfectly matched with Natalies profound and absolutely stunning vocal performance that acts ... read more
A bittersweet finale from the Californian rap collective with their 8th and final record “TM”. It was always going to be hard to live up the idea of the “final BROCKHAMPTON record” but I have to admit TM really doesn’t do much for me personally and I don’t think it offers much expansion to the groups discography, let alone being their “goodbye album”. TM feels really scattered, lacking in direction or even just general consistency. Listening to TM ... read more
Nas literally can do no wrong really, let’s be honest, this dude just doesn’t miss. One of the most successful and culturally important figures in hip hop almost 30 years on from his genre defining record “Illmatic” Nas continues to deliver passionate, dynamic and thought provoking hip hop that further cements the argument Nas is the greatest rapper of all time.
This being the third release in the “Kings Disease” run it’s great to hear Nas still has ... read more
Possibly one of the most soulless, annoying and outrageously dull records I’ve heard in years. I really thought it would be a while until I rated a record this poorly but “Elevation” has succeeded in bringing the Black Eyed Peas to a whole new level of shite, even after the abomination that was 2020s “Translation”.
When will these dudes finally give up beating a dead horse and call it a day.
Takes a bit of time to find it’s footing, but when it does “I Didn’t Mean To Haunt You” really pulls together a melancholic, ambient success with high potential at a promising career for the YouTuber turned musician. Quadeca already had a lot of hype to live up to with this latest record after receiving huge praise on 2021s “From Me To You” and not only does Quadeca actually deliver an intelligent, ambitious and musically rich record on this latest release, ... read more
Anddddd another Drake record is finally here, only this time in the form of a collaboration project with non other than 21 Savage. Been a bit late with this one but I wanted to sit with this record for a while before I dropped my thoughts on this latest Drake / Savage release.
I had let this one sink in for a bit but after multiple listens back to front I can honestly say that this is the best Drake release since DLDT and defiantly the most cohesive, organised and well rounded the rapper has ... read more
SMITHEREENS - Joji
Back in June Joji dropped easily his best single to date with “Glimpse of Us” and started to lay the foundations for an impressive album release to follow but with this latest full length release from the comedian turned music artist, “SMITHEREENS” there’s momentary promise of a seriously talented performer but the album doesn’t quite grip me, even in the very short run time Smithereens fails to make much of an impression. I’m a fan ... read more
Australian Psych / rock outfit King Gizzard return again (like they ever went anywhere) for the 3rd time this month with a full length studio release “Changes”, brining their overall full length album run to a total of 23?! As well as their October releases to a close. For a band so early in their career it’s incredibly admirable that Gizzard continue to dedicate such an intense amount of time and effort to deliver material to the fans. The band describe this latest release as ... read more
10 is my first proper introduction to a Westside Gunn project, understanding this to be the final record in his “Hitler Wears Hermes” series which I haven’t yet heard i can say that just listening to 10 that it’s undoubtedly strong enough to stand on its own without being part of a collective.
Westsides flows are hard as f*ck, dropping some heavy verses with an intense delivery but still unfolding a story worth following and crafting a record with narrative.
The beats ... read more
It’s been 3 years since the last Carly Rae Jepson record and for a lot of people this latest release has been a long time coming with a surprising amount of hype leading up to its release and some serious buildup on social media The Loneliest Time promised to be a solid record even though personally I’ve never connected much with Carlys material, naturally I wanted to give this thing a listen and hear the latest from what many cosier to be the Queen of contemporary pop.

Highly anticipated 10th studio release from Taylor Swift described by the singer as “13 tracks for 13 sleepless nights, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams” so on that basis the concept of Midnights is an interesting one and enough to draw me in to the record alone but after sitting with this thing for a while now each listen for me comes up as unclear and underwhelming.
The album gets off to a rocky start but it does manage to pick up slightly a couple tracks in with Swift ... read more
The long awaited follow up to Tranquility Base Hotel and Casino expands on the Arctic Monkeys continuously developing sound and attempts to draw even more influence, style and dynamic than ever before. The Car is a confidently unique and sophisticated record, Turner and co glide through 10 tracks of rich soul / jazz / pop fusion and though miles away from their northern indie rock roots, still pull together some of the bands most mature work to date on this record. Turner is as poetically cocky ... read more
Easily the best Chilli Peppers records in a long time. The band for the first time in years sound rehearsed, refined and most importantly natural. There’s some amazing tracks scattered throughout this thing with solid instrumentals, beautiful melodies and a production that enhances each element.
Anthonys lyrics are quirky yet aware, Flea and Chad make up one of the best rhythm sections in music and of course Frusciantes guitar playing continues to be masterful.
The biggest issue with ... read more
Absolutely a cut above the rest in The 1975s discography. Full of soul, creativity and narrative that really comes together with the major themes of the record not to mention dropping some of the groups most mature material to date.
Musical arrangements are smooth and dynamic, production is inviting and complimentary to the instrumentals and Matt Healy is vocally at his best, even if some of the lyrics on the album are a little stale. The albums got major finesse and replay ability, even after ... read more
