Objectively great, but I dunno, I don’t really feel like I get the point.
Admittedly, this is exactly the kind of album I’ll come back to months later and think is one of the greatest ever made, and I do really enjoy this from a purely sonic standpoint, but the songwriting just sorta bounces off me without leaving much impact
This doesn’t actually strike me as all that innovative as far as funk goes, but holy cow, there isn’t a single groove, guitar solo, vocal, or anything else here that is anything less than fantastically full of life and funk
Unfortunately more interesting for historical reasons as opposed to the music itself, which is fine but pretty un memorable, although obviously this record’s influence on hip hop cannot be overstated
Fantastically charming, catchy, and beautiful, in addition to it feeling like every song is soundtracking a scene in a movie that doesn’t exist yet.
An essential 80s pop listen thanks to it being both more out there and much better written then most other albums in this style, with of course a healthy dash of gayness thrown in for good measure.
While it does have the misfortune of being sandwiched between two of my 15 or so favorite albums ever released, this is still a more than worthy effort with some utterly astonishing moments on it, even if it doesn’t strike me as as raw and personal as For Emma or as daring and gorgeous as 22, A Million.
This album feels like you're listening to a robot experiencing emotion for the first time while having both an existential crisis and a crisis of faith.
Jaw-droppingly gorgeous and daring from front to back.
Lyrically there’s some pretty questionable points on this, but this is still very enjoyable thanks to some phenomenal production and Dizzee Rascal being an incredibly charismatic presence on the mic.
Has some absolutely stunning moments on it, although I didn’t find it quite as consistent as his last one, even though it is undoubtedly his most personal and bold project so far.
Russian Roulette might end up as my song of the year, although it being put in as track 3 of the album is a very odd choice as it honestly sounds more like the giant culmination that would usually close an album.
I don’t know why I’ve always been so hesitant to get into David Bowie, but for some reason I just kept putting off listening, but thank fuck I finally cracked.
This is one of the most beautiful, clever, full of wit and passion pop albums you’ll ever hear.
Nothing mind blowing, but has aged shockingly well for a 50s classic pop style country album by a guy who turned out to be a conservative asshole.
I haven’t listened to this, I just wanted to say that parts of Peggy’s fan base are officially starting to border on Drake fan base levels of unhealthy obsession.
Like any time there’s a comment that could even remotely be perceived as anti Peggy, people immediately swarm it with comments calling them an idiot etc.
You’re allowed to admit to yourself that the man released a less than great album and still be a fan, and as someone who himself has been incredibly mixed on ... read more
An exquisitely crafted album in all aspects, with the production serving to further the explosive and catchy songwriting and incredible grooves of the rhythm section.
Nothing mind blowing, but just a great, very fast paced little album with some great lush production and rock solid songwriting
