I'M BACK!
one thing I've been getting in to is anti-folk. emmy the great and jeffrey lewis absolutely dominate this scene. but this isn't about lewis. emmy is a stunning poet, awesome singer, and there's always lush production coating her voice. bravo.
possibly the most well produced album of not just the year, but the entire decade. and extremely engaging.
sampling final boss
but putting that aside...i don't have much to say. one of the most shockingly absorbing and interesting hip hop albums i've ever listened to. give it a month and I'll be wishing I could listen to it for the first time again.
NME it is NOT that bad
plus, I think stereolab really thought this album through. I kept thinking, wow this sounds like a stereolab album but still explores different genres they aren't used to and doesn't sound like a repeat of their last. I feel like it's longer than it really has to be though, so ETK is slightly better.
I liked this album so much I made a haiku after I finished it.
cool cool cool cool cool
cool cool cool cool cool cool cool
cool cool cool cool cool
you guys hate on birds and diz for the quality when this is much worse. but he has potential, and he's got some pretty decent jazz. and influential, blah blah blah
it clicks, but not like a cliche. it clicks like a story and like an album that you'll find yourself unpacking each time you hear coltrane hit the notes.
it's pretty good you could say
i don't even want to listen
besides take five, time out is standard, but pioneering jazz of the fifties.
17 is a much more organized debut by x than ? and remains arguably his best. and his best is pretty mid.
pink siifu's third studio album, gumbo, is a statement of black culture and a breath of fresh air among oversaturated records of the modern day.
